That 7800GTX is a nice card. But....$$$$$$$$$$$ :budget:

The upgrade from a 6800 Ultra to a 7800 is $349 - ouch. I don't think Dell did anything else to the XPS besides upgrade the gfx card and add a few other opts. But, it's still cool.

used car? yes, you could get a decent condition ford escort for $4K. I guess the only good news is that you don't need to pay for gas to power this thing once you've paid the initial $4K :)

So far there aren't any words on the M140. Dell will probably release this notebook later as they are letting the M170 (it is still a XPS Gen. 2 no matter what Dell says, it just has the very expensive option of the Nvidia GeForce Go 7800 GTX Ultra) have the glory in the sun.

Dell will probably announce the M140 soon for a holiday release.

I don't see how you can spend 4k on this. I configured what I'd consider a fully speced out laptop and it "only" came out in the low $3000's. And that's without any discounts whatsoever. That's very comparable to the prices before which means what whenever the good coupons come out, you'll be able to pick up that same configuration for $2000 or less.

I have this gut feeling now that Dell is waiting on both of these mobile parts (ATI or NV) to come out before launching the M140. It wouldn't delay if it could just use the 6600/X700. I guess that it'll contain a 7600/X1700. ;)

They just had a 20% coupon that Notebookreview themselves said wouldn't work for this notebook. It worked, but it wasn't on purpose since they just disabled the coupon to work with the XPS. So you really don't know if there will be coupons for this notebook.

One nice thing though. I talked to dell tech support, and they said that I could upgrade my XPS gen 2 with the 7800 gtx. They couldn't tell me how much it would cost...
