The XPS M2010 is a 20.1-inch mobile entertainmentPC and the XPS M1210 is a 12.1" screen portable notebook with dedicated graphics and built-in web camera. Both notebooks will have the Core Duo processor and be unveiled today at a 10 a.m.event in Los Angeles. View the NotebookReview.com M1210 review here.

The XPS M2010 and XPS M1210 are now available on Dell.com. The XPS M2010 starts at $3,500 while the XPS M1210 starts at $1,321. The XPS M700 desktop machine is available at Dell.comwith a price starting at $2,310.

    XPS M2010 Portable Entertainment PC

Dell was seen touting the M2010 at Las Vegas in January where they called it a "mobile concept PC". That concept becomes reality today as Dell releases the M2010 with a starting price of $3,500. That's a steep price, but it gets you a lot of options in a mobile type of package. In a closed position this mobile entertainment PC looks like a black leather brief case with an anodized aluminum carrying handle. When opened, the M2010 turns into a 20.1-inch high-definition display with detachable keyboard. The M2010 has the ATI X1800 graphics card included, making it a natural gaming machine. A slot loading DVD and integrated 1.3 megapixel camera are just two other cool options of the many offered with the M2010

The M2010 looks awesome, and I think its features justify its price tag. The M1210 will now offer some serious competition to the Sony SZ series.

Those are some seriously nice designs. Must be someone new in Dell's design dept. trying to make a good impression.

The XPS 700 looks as good as high end custom build cases, such as the one manufactured by thermaltake. ( Direct link to gallery) The none 90 degree angles are sweet :D

EDIT: it seems they still didn't implement the price cuts on the core duo!!! 2GHz option is still $200 more than the 1.83GHz. While the price cuts should place them only $50 apart ... weird!

That M1210 is still looking sweet - I'm secretly hoping it runs hotter than a Macbook and has barely enough battery life to watch a DVD movie.. but don't tell anybody :D

Can't wait to see a review of it.

I'm interesting in knowing the battery life on the M1210. For a 12 inch it should be at least 5 hrs.

Dell claims it can get almost 8 hours on the 9 cell battery (probably with integrated graphics and everything turned all the way down). I imagine even with the 7400 and everything turned all the way down 5 hours is within reach.

Since the shipping date is June 22nd I can wait for a review and decide between it and the upcomming Acer Ferrari 1000 12" laptop, which should be very interesting...

4.4lbs isn't that light a weight though, when compared with other 12" notebooks. For the same weight (or even less), you can get a 13.3" laptop with dedicated graphics too (sony sz, asus w7j).

The M1210 does have quite a lot of USB ports for its size though!

All I can say is, these rigs are amazing and I want all of them. Advancing technology really is on an exponential curve. What are they going to be releasing in 2-3 years? Crazy.

I spoke to a Dell rep on the phone from a Houston store today. Here's some info I got... He actually told me that it weighed 4.2 pounds, though he may have been mistaken. He told me that they are offering a 5% "launch date" discount so if you buy it today through the store, you get 5% off whatever is quoted online. There is no education discount for students or teachers (8%) because the XPS is a business laptop--i.e. not intended for students or teachers. Re shipping date- At first he told me it would ship by June 22, but then 10 mins later told me that it had been pushed to June 28. (They had already sold 4 within the first 15 minutes of business today). He did assure me though that they usually ship between 1 1/2 - 2 weeks earlier than what is posted at the ship date.

Yeah, this is still really expensive...

to be honest, i think the M2010 is not going to go so good

If i were to carry a computer around, it sure wouldnt be 18lbs. I would rather get the M1710 as it has a lot better specs, for a better price.

The m1210 looks fantastic, and is going to be hard to compete with.

And the 700 desktop looks aweome

    My opinions...

True, there is really nothing to call it. Basically a portable desktop

That resolution on the M2010 is pathetic, besides that, it is a great design (looks that is ;))

A 12" screen is quite small, so WXGA wouldn't be a problem in my opinion. The video card won't be able to handle most games at WXGA anyway, but some less demanding ones it can.

Finally, ATI's high-end card has appeared in a more common machine - the X1800 in the M2010. Great news; I'm a big ATI Fan and that would be a selling point for me.

A svelte 3.75 pounds on the Ferrari sounds very impressive, although we still don't know if the optical drive is integrated.

This is where I'm disappointed with the Dell XPS M1210 and the Lenovo V100--what they seem to have taken off the width of the notebook to bring it down to 12.1 was simply added back to the thickness.

The problem with the folding desktop m2010 is that you can get a notebook with just as much power but 10lbs lighter! They will cost the same but that 10lb weight reduction is great. I speak of the sager np5670 you can get it with slot load, ati gpu to match dell, intel core duo etc. only difference is a larger screen and raid (kinda nice) and of course the XPS1710 is another contender.

I'd buy one over an imac though!

Now that XPS 700 is just ugly! I like the power and pricing though. But still no amd and no water cooling which is something I'd want with all that power.
