Eh. It has nothing to do with the loss of white bumpers. You put even a low end GPU into an ultraportable sized laptop and the design suddenly becomes sexy. =P

I agree. I've used MANY notebooks, and I've yet to see a notebook design that's as solid as Apple's. The closest that comes to Apple, I would have to say, is IBM/Lenovo's ThinkPad. I do have to admit that Dell's design and quality has much improved over the years. After having toyed with the 710m for a while, I'm really looking forward to the M1210, though I think I'll wait until Merom comes out. I think the speed boost paired with 64-bit will be a worthy wait.

Release date is going to be some time during the middle of this month, supposedly. As for price, rumors tend to fall around the $1500 mark.

Seeing how this is the Asus W5F with a re-modeled camera and the Dell logo slapped on the front. It may be around 1.6 kg (~3.5 lbs).

I was literally minutes away from purchasing a black Asus W5F for around $2200 when I had a sudden urge to check out notebookreview.com (thank God!) and I am totally sold on this.
If the price tag is < $1500 USD this is going to be an incredible steal but seeing the potential specs it's probably going to be around $1700 at least.
Of course there are always coupons and Dell might test the waters with this model by slicing off some green.

    Release it Dell!

I'm, looking towards a Dell 1505 with the current cupon code, but this small beauty is tempting me not to buy it till the 18th. Hopefully it will be released the 15th with a really good price tag. AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHh what should I do. I really need this little monster on top of my lap.

From reading about the Asus W5F, which has a similar design with a thick bezel, I think this could, in part, be due to the integrated webcam. Apparently there are extra cables etc. that need to be covered up. On the W5f, the webcam is movable, however. Not sure if that's the case with this Dell.

    [EDIT]

Nearly confirmed for release on 5/31.

Man. I've been waiting for this notebook to come out for the longest time. I just hope that the Dell kiosk in my nearby mall has the M1210 when it comes out so I can cruise by to check it out. I'm pretty sure this will be the buy for me when I plan to purchase a notebook sometime around September.

Ok. So we now know the specs. Awesome. As for the price...ehh. I think I might still get it as long as I can get a coupon code (if they're ever going to have any for the XPS's) or 18 months financing (they do once in a while). Then again, its possible I can go for the MacBook.

hmm, price aside and specs at the front i think SZ > M1210 > macbook.

after experiencing > 4lbs, the 5 lbs on the macbook is just too darn heavy, heh

I was about to buy an SZ but I went late in the evening and the store was closed. If this thing has nVidia 7400 with 256 MB Ram as shown in the dell Norway specs I am sold.

Mackbook is no go; Apple left out the expresscard slot and dedicated GPU, and since I already have a 17" Powerbook I can do all of my heavy video editing and photos on it. I need an EVDO toting and occasional gaming machine. So far I see no other serious contenders at 12" with comparative specs. I will fall back on the Sony SZ if this does not materialize though.

Regarding its ugliness; anybody remember this Jamaican tune?
