Is the battery upgraded? It would be perfect for me if the battery sat flush.

Just checked the website, it seems there's no base where you can upgrade everything from.
I was hoping for i5, fingerprint reader, backlit keyboard, flush battery, 320gb hdd, etc to my liking. -
Hi, first of all thanks for the nice review. Does any of the editor notice the screen hinge is wobble easily? My V131 does and I would like to see if anyone else has that.

Thanks for the review. I have been looking at this notebook for quite some time now. Your review is making me want to buy it, especially since you opened all those programs, and hardly heard the fan.

131 seems to be a big step up from the 130. I have a V130 for school and its good enough for me as a "back up" machine. Seems like the 131 could perform as a main computer. Great review. Glad to see the evolution of this line from dell. V13-v130-v131

Dim screen - only a maximum brightness of 185 nits, or an average of 170 nits, according to Notebookcheck. That factor alone makes the Vostro V131 a notebook that's best avoided, regardless of specs or price. Perhaps there is a small subset of buyers looking for a thin notebook that they intend on using with a monitor. For the typical notebook user, this sort of poor quality display is a tremendous disadvantage.

I ended up getting one and returning it... the mobo fried on me in the first week. The battery lasted quite some time... I had the 6 cell and I would say I was getting around 5 hours of real world use.

Yeah no surprise because I've had several hardware related issues as well that I've had to repair myself on my V13 which shares similar design features. They truly are low cost devices. Fortunately I paid $374 with free shipping for my V13.

The v13 and V131 are worlds apart actually. The 131 uses a full size cpu which makes it tend to be hotter. The body is also noticeably bigger (which was my favorite part of the 13 and 130. )

I completely agree but I remember being super disappointed when I got the v131 and it was much longer and wider than the v130 I had got it to replace. I think they were dell businesses cheapest 13 as well.

As much as I like the V13 which I got dirt cheap, no pun intended it is a pretty cheap notebook. I guess it's true what they say you get what you pay for.
Although when you buy cheap you know you can never be disappointed lol.
