Dell quietly released the new Vostro 2510 high performance business notebook. Offering an eye catching red gloss cover this notebook adds a splash of color into a normally dull Vostro lineup.
The Dell Vostro 2510 has a starting weight of 5.72lbs, offering options including a slot loading Blu-ray burner, WUXGA display panel, 256MB NVIDIA 8400M graphics card, 2.6GHz T9500 processor, and up to 4GB of memory.
No word on official US pricing (or even if this notebook will be sold in the US), but the Canadian Dell Small Business website has the basic configuration starting at $899 which includes the Intel T5670 processor, 15.4" WXGA+ TruLife display, 2GB of RAM, NVIDIA 8400M GS graphics, and 8X DVDRW drive. A fully customized Vostro 2510 with the top options tips the scale at close to $2,900.

All these new models have very similar specs, just a new case and features.

Metamorphical Good computer user
The deep red and black is pretty. Not much else going on for this one.
-
Damn, that's a nice looking case....At least it blows the top off of the older Vostros and even the newer ones.

gotta love dell and thier undying love for geforce 8400

Dell finally smartened up... same specs, different cases sells truck loads
-
And still using defective GPUs. Woohoo~~!!

Could you please tell me where do you have confirmation for that? I have a recent XPS and an old one. If what you're saying is true, then at least I only have one to worry about. Could you please confirm your information?

It is interesting that they include the 8400m GS. If dell knew they were "all defective" like some sources say, then it would make no sense to include it in a new model. When the studio launched with ATI I thought it was a sign but now that they continue pushing out the NVIDIA I don't know. Maybe there is hope for the 8400m GS users!
-
Jeez, that name scared me.
I thought the "Vostro 2510" would be a 25" behemoth of a desktop replacement machine.
You'd think "Vostro 1520" would be the right name for it, since it would thus fall into line with the other Dell model numbers. -
Looks like the 1510 with a new case pretty much.
-
If it really is a 1510 with a new case. This bodes well for 1310/1510 users. I expect to be able to change out my black case for a red one in the near future then.

can't they use a 9 series gpu? wtf
-
Its..beautiful..

Lmao... This is still Santa Rosa isn't it.
It's gonna go for around 1.5k base price with "high end" models going for 2k, which performs worst than sub 1k notebooks from less known brands.
Just you watch. -

I do think they need to devise a logical, comprehensive model numbering scheme that will register with consumers and us tech-enthusiast types as well. I also saw the Vostro 2510 and strated squinting trying to see the screen size in the fine print....the Vostro 1500 was replaced with the 1510 and now a 2510??? Why not use 1515 or 1535?
They used to use odd numbers to designate AMD-based models (Inspiron 1501, 1521 and 1721), but the only AMD-platform Inspiron now is the 1526.
I'll be intersted to hear if they mention who chose 2510 or why it was chosen. Actually, I'm kinda missing the entire point of this new offering anyway.
And I hope they expand the processor choices ASAP, too....base is the 1.8GHz T5670, for $75 you upgrade to the 2.0GHz T5870 and the next step (it's a DOOZY) is to the 2.6GHz T9500 for $500!!! -
Maybe it's just me, but that look really reminds me of the Acer Ferrari.

isnt $2900 a bit too expensive for the specs that it provides. It does look pretty good but i still think the xps m1530 looks better.
-
2510?
Doesn't the size of the screen go in the first two digits?
But it's only a 15" -
Looks pretty nice for a business notebook. Kind of sad though they stick the old broken GPUs in it.
-
Yes it looks nice, but that's about all that's good about the Vostro 2510. T5670 CPU, GeForce 8400G, 1440x900 non-LED screen, 2GB RAM, 160GB HDD, and 8x DVD-RW for $1159 Canadian? Sorry, but I think I'd pass.
-
These are business machines, not gaming ones. They focus mostly on the build and make sure it works rather than style. So it is surprising it looks decent.

Dell does need to get some Montevina products to the market soon. I am waiting on them.

looks like nintendo ds

Dell has been doing some nice aesthetic things but ignoring innards. Maybe they figure if they make things pretty enough people will ignore the defective gpus and the outdated platform.
IMHO Dell needs to stop doing case upgrades and do something about the specs. -
Although not related at all.
Kind of looks like they too kthe IFL90 model and redesigned it.
Looks weirdly alike in small ways. -

The price tag won't, though. -

boring spec and deign but probably reliable and cheap that's what I need but the red is not my kind , I like black version of Vostro better, is there any different design ?
and the size and weight are good for a 15.4. MyVostro 1510 is a huge and heavy laptop and I seldom go out with it so I appreciate the a bit slimmer and smaller size of it , probably not as small as my XPS M1530 though. -
