Dell unveiled the Inspiron 13z and 14z series today, promising "ultra-thin" form factors and the "latest technology" for consumers. The notebooks can best be used for general use and entertainment purposes and are equipped with second generation Intel Core i3 and Core i5 processor options and a 720p display.

No AMD, just more Intel... I thought at first the 'z' moniker would again have AMD (as it has in the past), but I read that Dell has dropped AMD completely from the menu.

I wish they would make a XPS 13z. I would buy it in a heartbeat if it packs the same hardware as the XPS 15z and a has the option for a nice screen. After using my M11x I don't think I can ever go back to a 14" or 15" laptop. I'm really tempted to get a Mac Air 13" just because of the great screen even though it has no disctere gpu and I would just install windows on it.

    $600.00

    Not a bad starting point.

I agree with Peter, that would be awesome.

Besides the higher resolution I am told the 13in MBP has a better screen than the MBA as it has a higher contrast ratio, and color gamut.

As for the 13z the $600 is very tempting for the specs, but I am not that fond of the looks, and after using my TT, I don't think I can go back to a glossy, low color gamut screen.

Hi guys, I'm interested in the new Dell Inspiron 14z for school and found a nice review of the Inspiron 14z (N411z) with pics here:

They say in the review that the touchpad is kind of flaky, anyone else here have experience with Dell Inspiron touchpads or know what their reputation is?
