    Yeah, same here;

    I wonder what's taking so long for NBR to put up a review, given that the sample machine has been available for nearly a month. I would feel much better about making a decision when a fully fledged review comes out.

    It is weird how some notebooks have reviews out before they are even released.

    The T400s for instance.

    Not trying to sound impatient or ungrateful, but it does stink that a month goes by and there is ZERO new info. on the machine, especially for people waiting to press the 'Checkout' buttons.

    I think your sister should wait until win7 comes out. Studio 14z only comes with 64 bit sys and she might get a problem installing some software and drivers. Additionally, this laptop has same graphic and internet card as XPS 13. There are a lot of reports complaining about the audio spike. I really like this laptop but I will wait until win7

    Ive read through the posts and I didnt notice too much detail about the audio and speaker quality for the dell studio 14z. If anyone has the 14z AND purchased the additional soundblaster X-Fi software, tell me if it is worth the 25 dollars they are asking.
    I very much want the best audio but I dont want to waste 25 dollars on software that cant do much more for the hardware. Am I mistaken?

    What would be your opinion on the quality of the speakers with and/or without the software enabled. Id like to know before I purchase it.

    I also spoke with the dell rep and she said that the studio 14z has the same mobo regardless of what CPU you purchase. Therefore, Im going to buy the T4200 base CPU and later install the T9550 or P8600

    Still seems thick to me. I think I'd just go with an inspiron for the disc drive and budget price

    I saw the 14z laptop at best buy today. It felt very lite and not very thick at all. That may be because I have a thick and heavy laptop (Gateway 6850fx) and have not had much experience with thin laptops.

    Overall, Im not complaining at all about the thickness. Any thinner and it might suffer from flex?
    Optical drive omitted is fine too IMO.

    I WILL be getting this laptop, just a matter of selling my 6850fx and getting cash for the new one!

    I just ordered this laptop from Dell. I was less than happy with the RAM situation, but otherwise I think this laptop has great specs for the price.

    Dell Studio 14z, configured at $1,084 - $170 E Value Code - 7% EPP Match ($64) = $850.
