Dell Offers to Upgrade PCs to Windows 7
    [IMG]
Dell has a deal for those wanting to upgrade their PCs to Microsoft's new Windows 7 operating system. The company is expanding its upgrade program with the Windows 7 Free and Easy upgrade program. Through the program, Dell will install Windows 7 Premium on new Dell PCs before shipping it out to the customer. The program will be available free of charge; customers who participate will receive their new PCs with Windows 7 already installed around 22 October, Windows 7's launch date.

And they ship the drivers too?

Do you know how are the other companies doing this "free Win7' thing? You get Vista now, and then/

This isn't really that special. What they're doing is saying, hey, people who buy a customized computer today won't receive it until after Oct. 22, so we might as well load Windows 7 on there.

All the companies have Windows 7 ready to go, Dell is just allowing you to order Win7 machines 2 weeks early.

Yeah not really that special. I was expecting something like Dell offering to upgrade your used computer free with Windows 7 or a non-Dell, now that would have been something. Or shipping the computer before October 22 would have been great too.. cause everyone will have Windows 7 available after October 22.

So, my order date was 10/02/2009 and ETA is listed 10/30/2009, could it be that I will get my system with Windows 7 ?!

Dont think so. I just chatted with a Dell Sales Rep, and he told me that since they are putting Win7 in there (at least on my SXPS 1645), they shipping date was estimated for 11 nov!!!
