I'm noticing some striking similarities between the "Latitude" 14 3000 and the Inspiron 14 5000 (read: they look the same). I almost feel for businesses that buy those notebooks thinking they're business class. Perhaps from a support perspective, but they're not business grade notebooks feature- or build-wise.

These might be OK for undemanding business users where the notebooks spend most of their life sitting on a desk and rarely venture out of an office (ie probably have an easier life than many consumer notebooks).

However, they are no substitute for the real Latitudes and I hope that the business purchasers know the differences.

Nonethess, sharing of development and manufacturing costs through convergence of product lines makes sense. Dell's XPS 15 9530 and Precision M3800 are the same except for a slightly different GPU, but the XPS family carries a price (and quality) premium up above the Inspiron range.
