They look a lot better than my old Vostro from the same 1000 series.
Not bad the starting price, considering, at least mine, has survived 2 years and more of extreme usage and kinda abused. Carried around, used a lot, gamed on it (yes, on an IGP...^^), and still going...only thing is that it shows its aged hardware now, but other than that I am surprised with the Vostro line...it sure survives.

It looks just like the Dell Vostro A860.

I believe both of these notebooks are more for emerging markets; it was the same case for the Vostro A860. Both are very basic/budget-oriented.

Whoever wrote the spec page, specifically the screen resolution section, for these notebooks on Dell's US site must have been daydreaming, clueless, or thought buyers were too ignorant to care about screen res (so why bother); this is all that is listed:

Please; "HD" is meaningless in a business environment. Just tell us what the screen res is without the mainstream consumer wordplay.

I had to go to Dell's New Zealand site to pull the screen resolution, which is 1366x768.

Edit: Just clicked on the 360 view on the 15" version and under features there it stated that it includes a discrete ATI Mobility HD 4530 with 512mb vram.
It this a typing error or does it really include that gpu????

Thats really not a bad deal, but i wish the 15" screen had higher resolution that 1366x768.

Not bad at all. Get a real CPU/laptop for the price of a "netbook". I would definitely get one of those instead of a netbook. If nothing else, I could realistically run Folding on it :-D

I don't think 1015 carries onboard Dedicated Graphic Processing at the moment. There must be some kind of mistake there.
As mentioned in my previous post, http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=407322 , only VOSTRO 1088 comes with ATI DGP.

Moreover, the phrase "Anti-Glare with TrueLife" is an oxymoron. "TrueLife", in Dell's terms, stands for a Glare screen. It can't be Anti-Glare and Glare at the same time :p

That page seems like a copy-paste from the consumer side where information is hard to get (I had to talk to 5 reps to know some info about the RAM on a model...)

Hm, this laptop looks nice for the price.

It also looks like the Dell Vostro A series. It is more modern looking though. Dell is really making there business line huge.

And with it they are gaining a better reputation other than Dell=Inspiron

I like the looks of the new Vostro lines, better than my old one:

Your Vostro1000 is the same as mine in terms on hardware component and look. Except that your's is black for corporate environment integration while my Inspiron1501 is for home use that easily stained by sweat marks and worn off paint.

    Really?

Is it as resistant as this thing?

I mean, mine has survived me stepping on it, some milk spilled over it. Some food too. The Vostro line is very strong, and this model, besides its low end hardware (a Sempron single core instead of the dual core Athlon) and the IGP, I think it is very good, and has survived well
