Fredrik, It depends on which version you want to run. ( http://www.tweaksrus.com/index.php?option=com_docman&task=cat_view&gid=163&Itemid=41/)
This is the link of the Mobileforce drivers. You may want to run the newest or the second from the newest. It depends on which version you want to run. For my nvidia 6800, I am running 81.95. You can choose what you want, just read the description because certain versions do better in fields where others do not do as well.

Ok, as for any other drivers, except for the gpu? Or is the Mobileforce driver for more than the GPU?

Hmm, seems like the 81.98 could be used with the 7800. Same as 81.95 but with some improvements(?). Sorry, as i've said, my english is not at it's best when it comes to all these "computerterms" :)

Yes, when newer gpu drivers are released, they fix or improve performance over old drivers. Anything above 81.95 should work really well with the 7800.

Did you order the driver cd when you purchased the machine? If not, I would download all the drivers for the machine. Or you might call Dell or talk to Dell through Dell Chat about getting the OS and drivers Discs. ( http://support.dell.com/support/dow...&s=dhs&SystemID=INS_PNT_P4_9400&os=WW1&osl=EN) This is the american site where your drivers are at. I can't understand the Dell Sweden page (I only know English and Spanish). On the Dell Sweden page, the driver page should be the same as the Dell USA page.

Edit: I just found the Dell Sweden driver page ( http://support.euro.dell.com/suppor...&s=dhs&SystemID=INS_PNT_P4_9400&os=WW1&osl=EN)
This should be the page where you can find all the stuff.

Yeah, swedish is kinda different from english ;)

Well, as far as i can remember i ordered the resource cd, but on the packing slip it said 'No resource CD'. Guess i'll just have to wait and see. If it's not in the package I'll give Dell a call, after all I've paid for it. Or maybe they can mail it separately. But then I don't need the graphicsdriver if there is one(?), cause I thought i'd try the Mobileforce one. Hmmm, when i think about it maybe i should try both and see what the difference might be.

It started about a year ago. Dell's Software Reduction Act is its name. Basically Dell makes a hidden partition on the hard drive and puts the OS and drivers there. I don't know why they wanted a reduction in making cds because they still make them, but if you get on Dell Chat and argue to them that you want the discs, Dell will mail them to you free of charge.

Your warranty will not be voided. SouthernGirl wrote a step by step process for performing a clean install here ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=23363). That should be what you are wanting.

Well crap, my delivery date is pused back another day to Feb. 7th as of this morning. My order is still in the "order processing" stage (after having been in production at one point). No email or calls from Dell of course.

Yeah, mine too. Stuck in oder processing with a ship date of 01/01/0001. Clicking on an order in my profile reveals "System is undergoing routine maintenance".

I did finally find the "Customer Support" link to get a status. I had to search for the P.O. number (there are too many ways to find the status, if you ask me), and although it says it's in Order Processing, it gives a production date of 1/23/2006 10:51:46 AM and an Estimated Delivery Date of 1/31/2006.

I'm happy that I've finally gotten some kind of status on it. :)

Well I just called Dell yet again and they insist that my order will be in production by noon today. Check the website tomorrow they say and my order will be in production. Yeah right, I believe them I mean they haven't screwed my around the whole time yet - oh, wait yes they have.

When my doorbell rings and there's a courier with a big box for me then I'll believe I'm getting it. Not until then though!

For those who might be getting their e1705/9400 before the rest of us, here are some suggestions on benchmarking that I (and perhaps others) would like to see:

    In each of these configurations

Stock (i.e. open the box and run),
    Stock + MobileForce drivers,
Reformated (fresh XP install without the Bloatware),
    Reformated + MobileForce drivers

    These Benchmarks:

    3DMark03
    3DMark05
    Super Pi to 1m & 2m places

Plus battery tests (standard / extended battery):

    DVD playback booted in XP
    DVD playback in pre-boot (MediaDirect)
    3D Game (full load)

    Hi,

i'm from Germany and some people here received today their Dell 9400.
I'm also waiting for mine and i am full of hope to receive it this week ;).

The original clock speed by Dell for the 7800go is 250/658 :(
An owner has overclocked the card to 366/890 without any problems and here are the results:

Intel Core Duo Processor T2400/1.83 GHz
    1024MB 533MHz DDR2 SDRAM

    Aquamark03: GFX 10176 / CPU 8897
    Total 64745

    3DMark03: 12327
    3Dmark03: 9244 (not overclocked !)

    3DMark05: 5443

Here is the Link to the German Board

Sounds not so bad to me

I'm just curious about the formatted benchmarks, because I've heard that Dell puts on all kinds of Bloatware and a hidden partition. Just thinking you might get extra speed with a fresh install.

Also should mention, that if you do list some benchmarks, the system specs are also greatly appreciated (i.e. CPU speed, Ram, etc.)

I ordered on the 11th Jan, mine still says an ETA of 17th Feb and in pre-production. I'm in the UK too. Reminds me of what happened to my last dell laptop I ordered 3 years ago.

I love Dell kit but the customer service is a nightmare.

Update on mine: It's not actually stuck in the "Order Processing" phase, just it hasn't gotten to the pre-production phase as it is awaiting parts. Once the parts are in, it should go pretty smoothly.

    Canada... just north of Toronto.

Could be something to do with the 1.83 processor (the same as in the new Macs)...

This better be an example of Dell underclocking via software :)

Dell keeps pushing my delivery date ahead so I wrote my rep an email.. :) Hopefully he'll get the ball rolling a little faster. I have noticed something different between certain I9400 models though. I've read some people received 533Mhz Ram, while the system I ordered comes with 2GB of 667Mhz Ram. I wonder if the European Ram is a bit slower??

Here in Sweden you can choose between 533 and 667. The 2 gb 667 cost about $10 more than 2gb 533 when i ordered :)

In Germany you've to pay an extra of Euro 150,80,- (about $180) if you want to upgrade from 1024/533 to 1024/633, so that was no option for me.

Just checked Dell SE and the difference between 2gb 533 an 667 is still $10. Upgrade from 1gb 533 to 2 gb 533 is about $440. But I caught the free upgrade offer when i ordered(last day :))

Well, much to my surprise, mine is in transit now so I guess I'll be getting it this week. I don't know how long it takes to get through customs to Canada but I suspect not too long.

When I ordered mine on Jan 6 there was a free memory upgrade to 2 Gigs. I hadn't noticed on the order confirmation that it was wrong and was only 1 Gig. During the hastle last week with the order, it got re-input into the system and at that point I noticed the error and let Dell know. I'm glad as I would have been very frustrated had it arrived configured incorrectly after all that.

Sweeeet. Mine has finally gone to Pre-production. I too wonder if it's 'cause I sent an email this morning (but no reply yet). Estimated ship Date is Feb 1, but could be sooner (we can always hope...)

I'd be interested to see who the first in Canada is to get one...

EDIT: Now "In Production" :) :)

aahhh...dell anger me! After they cancelled my order twice, I just noticed they are giving me 533mhz ram instead of the one i ordered (667)!!!! I am essentially paying 60 pounds extra for a worse computer (60 pounds extra because now they have a free delivery option, with the 667mhz ram). I have been trying to get through to my sales rep all day so I can cancel and then re-order my laptop, but no body is picking up! I am very angry because when (and if) I recieve my laptop, I will be paying 60 pounds extra for a worse laptop...AAHH DELL!!

the machine is cool and silent, but when you put in a dvd and start to wacth a movie well you need to srew up the volume cos the fan go in action and its not silent but if you are not wacthing movies or using the gpu in rooms were you have to be silent well its acceptable.
I charged the battery and wached a dvd movie Lord of the ring with no problems!!!
it just fantastics what you can do simultaneus with this cpu.

I had it on for 6 hours and I can tell you it wasnt hot and fan got in action once except during dvd wacthing.

I hadnt time to make a clean re-install so I tryed it with the dell conf.
wirwless LAN, LAn and Bluethooth working fine no problems.

I ran with the hightst display definition 1920x1200 fantastics my eyes didnt claim and this is gooood, no dead pixel or other display errors.

The only thing Dell missed is that I ordered a english version of XP and I got a danish one

    congrats! :)
no camera you say...i have an easy solution for that.

Just place your 9400 over a scanner! :)

Just for watching a movie, i wouldn't imagine the fan would scale up to its highest setting.

So my question is...what is your definition of loud? :)

Tell me how well BF2 plays on it!!? :)
