The Dell Inspiron 15R Special Edition and the HP ENVY dv6t-7300 offer good overall quality, 15.6-inch displays with 1920x1080 resolutions, Windows 8, Intel dual-core processors and dedicated graphics cards. Our comparison evaluates the finer points of both machines including their build quality, display quality and the overall user experience.

I feel the HP is better overall as it offers good cpu and gpu options (quad i7/ 650m gpu). If we look at that the Dell has a weaker 7730m gpu so I say the HP should be a better choice between the two.

Check out the article; the final decision went to the Dell because it has a significantly better price after coupons are applied. I'd otherwise agree with you.

Note the Inspiron 15R Special Edition also offers Intel Core i7 quad-cores:

In my opinion the most important features in a laptop are the screen, the keyboard and the touchpad. Luckily both Dell and HP have an antiglare display. The Dell wins for the keyboard because it doesn't have the number pad.

Both laptops can upgrade memory (16 GB max) and disc and that's fine but both don't have a Gigabit ethernet and that's strange today: it's a difficult proposition for business users or people with a NAS at home.

Overall the Dell has the edge because of the keyboard but nothing I would buy because of the limited network card.

Budget 15-inchers with 1080p screens, backlit keyboards, and good build quality? Man, things have come a long way in the past couple years.
