heykennedy, I'm not sure if this will help but if you have any more problems using instant messaging programs maybe you should give www.meebo.com a shot. I use it always at school. It lets you connect to AIM, Yahoo Messanger, Google talk and MSN without needing to download the programs and hopefully without having any security programs blocking it. Hope this helps...

Does anyone have a report of how long the battery lasts with the Best Buy model with the 9-cell battery? For $700, it's a REAL nice setup IMO. Strongly considering it for my wife's laptop.

Does this baby have an option for dedicated video card or on board only?

    Integrated only.

So...I just undervolted mine, and from 1 ghz to 2ghz, its running stable at .95v. I wish Intel didn't lock the low end :(

was thinking about buying this online from dell.com but that best buy deal looks too good to pass on. I had a 12.1" 700m which I loved but it was wearing out. I bought an HP tx2500 12.1" tablet from Costco a few weeks ago but the battery life is completely horrible (~2 hours under normal use). It's getting packed back up and returned this week. Only thing I'm not sure of is making the jump to 13.3". Any input?

I got this one yesterday with T5800 & optional Bluetooth.

I noticed that I hear some "static" sound when I play music (WMP or internet streaming music). Occasionally but constantly (every 2 seconds?).

It is very obvious when I listen with headphones and outer speakers, but still hear something with internal speakers although it is less obvious due to the nature of the speakers.

Anyone also noticed this problem? I appreciate your response.

I reinstalled soundcard driver, and muted windows beeping etc. but nothing worked.

If it turns out to be a serious defect, I think I would rather return it and ask for a refund (I bought it on dell finance though).

    Okay I'm confused.
There are 2 different weights; one from Dell and the other from Best Buy.

Dell's site says the weight starts at 4.9 lbs. (2.22 kg), but Best Buy's (Canada) site says its 1.8 kg.

I'm considering this over the XPS since that is about 1.8kg , which would be better.. the two seem identical to me except for the material ?

Go with the heavier weight. Dell's numbers are correct. I don't know where Best Buy got that 1.8kg.
