I'm not shopping this round of workstations, but I'm really happy to see Dell offering an IPS display. I hope this trend continues to expand. More IPS options should mean more competitive pricing all the way around. -

I believe HP was the first company to offer the quadro fx 5000M.

^True, but Dell stopped offering the FX5000M a while back...they only had it up for a relatively small window of time as far as I could tell. I believe it also took Dell a while to offer the M7820, they launched the M6500 way early and offered some other ATi card...not sure when they switched over though.

I have seen now in the specs for M4600 that Ubuntu will be offered for selected regions too. That would definitely drive more attention from Linux community - I am using M4400 with Ubuntu and being myself the example that Linux users are ready to pay the premium money for the premium hardware.

Interesting. Do they have graphics switching with the FirePro M5950? Also, can you play games with the professional cards or do the drivers get in the way (it looks like a Radeon 6770M)?

I tried a few games with my M7820 card (L4D2, Civ V, LoL) and did not have any issues.

Thanks, Charles.
Dell's Italian site has the M6600 for sale now. It starts at 1749 ("2092 with 343 off"). Strangely, the don't give you the option of the 2630QM -- it's either the 2620M or the 2720QM (both of which are rather expensive upgrades from the base 2520M, 207 and 250 respectively). The RAM starts at 4GB and upgrades for it are absurdly overpriced as usual (buy it separately and install it yourself). The LCD starts at 1600x900 and can be upgraded to 1920x1080 for 86... but the upgrade to the "Multi-Touch" 1920x1080 screen is 422. The hard drive costs are negligible, but if you want an SSD, they get expensive fast. The GPU is the FirePro M8900 which is the professional version of the Radeon 6970M. The price includes a 3 year warranty; if you want accident protection, it's another 180 for 3 years.
It's hard to translate from European to American prices, but if they do the usual (1 -> $1, regardless of the exchange rate), this is a fairly reasonable high-end machine. I'm much more interested in the M4600 which Dell's Italian site currently does not have. Oh well, we'll find out soon enough. -

Excellent information. Is there any indication either of those screen upgrades are the IPS panel? The multi-touch screen for 422 Euro ... that's a ton of money. I paid $550 to upgrade to the DreamColor 2 IPS panel on my HP 8740w, which I still can't get over (though it was worth every cent).
Overall I think those prices should translate well into US dollars, it's only a matter of time before it shows up on the US site. -
Neither of those upgrades are IPS
Dell is going to add the IPS option later on, no ETA yet. -
Well, the US versions are now up as well. They do have the IPS screen for the M4600 ("15.6" UltraSharp FHD(1920x1080) PremierColor IPS RGB Anti-Glare LED-backlit Premium Panel Guarantee"), but it costs an extra $500. The starting price for the machine is only $1208 ($1738 with a $529 "discount") so it's not so bad, but still probably too much for me.
As with the Italian site, they don't offer the 2630QM. The upgrade to the 2720QM is only $240 which is even cheaper than I thought it would be. On the other hand, their prices on the RAM and the hard drive are even more absurd. They start with a laughable 2GB of RAM and ask $85 to upgrade to 4GB. The hard drive starts at 250GB and the upgrade to 500GB costs $120. I mean, nobody sane would pay those prices when you can get 8GB of RAM and a Momentus XT for the same money on Newegg, but not even the Italian site was this bad (they at least offered reasonable prices for hard drives).
