Dell today announced an all-new refresh of the Latitude E-series portfolio of business laptops. The new Latitude E6230, E6330, E6430, E6430s, E6530, E5430, E5530, and E6430 ATG all feature design changes that suggest Dell is trying to strike the proper balance between the trend of consumerization and the need for IT manageability and data protection.

If the Latitude E6430s is Trinity laptop, than deal :).

We only received spec sheets (with redacted specs related to Ivy Bridge) for the E6430s and E6430 ATG ... both of which appear to be Intel-based only systems.

I suspect we'll see AMD's Trinity processors make an appearance in Dell's Vostro lineup of small/medium business (SMB) notebooks later this year but I don't have any confirmation of that right now.

Most notebook manufacturers like to stick to Intel processors in the enterprise-class business notebooks because they can charge more and blame the price hike on Intel. There is still a large percentage of IT professionals who view Intel processors and chipsets as the best choice for business (particularly in notebooks).

That said, I suspect the "consumerization" trend is going to help make AMD-based notebooks far more appealing if AMD continues to develop its A-series APUs as well as they have over the last year.

Damn it..., anyway these new Latitudes are not quite my ideal for looking, I liked them until E4310 ages. However their qualities are great, so I was hoping one with AMD.

Boo links don't work on my phone. Guess I'll check them out when I get home.

The E6430s appears to be Dell's (late) answer to the ThinkPad T4x0s (dating back to June 2009). Better late than never...

Fingers crossed that the E6430s will offer a 1600x900 display as an option, just as the T430s does!

At this time, it appear that the E6430s will only be available with a 14.0” HD (1366x768) Anti-Glare LED-backlit screen according to the specs we've seen from Dell.

Come on, if it took Dell three years for respond to the ThinkPad T4x0s then you've got to give them another two years to figure out that people want higher resolution screens. ;):rolleyes2:

I know that the E6430 will have a 14.0" 1600x900 option, just like the E6420. So they'll already have the hardware....ugh, or maybe it's time for me to give Lenovo another shot and get a T430s!??? :D

The 13.3" E6330 should be given a 1600x900 option as well. There are a number of other 13.3" laptops that already feature this type of display (Sony Vaio SA, ASUS UX31). Oh, and while they're at it, Dell should give the E6230 an IPS display like the one offered with the X220/X230.
