Well, it looks like there are so many bugs when DX10 cards run DX10 games that it just isn't funny anymore. ExtremeTech described a high-end ATI DX10 card as a 'steaming pile of integrated graphics' when running in DX10 mode...and nVidia wasn't much better.

Hmm. Not that I have a real keen eye for detail, but the DX10 screenshot on page 2 looks more washed-out than the DX9 one.
Anyway, I guess it will take a while before DX10 implementation and graphic drivers are up to snuff. -
Driver problems? Not exactly something surprising.
I just hope they didn't screw up the hardware as well... -
What about DX9 games on DX10 cards?
-
Regarding both comments though...either only the DX10 hardware is funky, or the DX10 portion of the drivers are funky. Either way, it shouldn't have happened and I hope it gets fixed soon.
If it's a hardware problem, DX10 is going to be screwed for a while. The one thing Vista has going for it, and it is actually worse than what XP can do right now. One step forward, two steps back... -
Hmmm, I don't think it's fair to judge DX10 based on only a crappy demo of an XBOX360 ported game, granted it may be the only thing to base it on ATM. But seriously, console->PC ports just fail horribly in the performance department in general so this shouldn't be any surprise. Well, the only surprising thing really is how bad ATI's driver support is for their video cards. For shame, ATI.

Yea I saw that dx9 vs dx10 lost planet demo comparison on Gamespot and I couldn't really see any improvements in DX10. The only thing that looked a lot better were water detail and textures. BUT!...and its a big BUT, read on!
Lost Planet was the first dx10 game and to be honest everyone has been complaining about dx10 now because that demo wasn't all that great. In my opinion that demo didn't utilize what DX10 is good at; water, texture detail (mainly faces/bodies), and lighting. Lost planet has a view distance of like 10 feet (seriously), and they make up for it with a foggy/snowy background. And the monsters looked poorly detailed whether it is in dx9 or dx10.
So basically lost planet showed nothing of view distance + lighting, detailed textures (i.e. close-up faces), and hardly any water detail or fully dynamic shadows.
Honestly, I say hold the criticism until Alan Wake and Crysis come out. -
hmm I dont recall this happening between dx7, dx8 and dx9 and i dont recall drivers being so bad when XP came around. sure they needed to be refined but problems still arise from vista drivers and its been almost 6 months now.
both ATI and nvidia have been terrible with their driver support, it's almost like they started working on Vista drivers the day it was released to the public!
DX10 Doesn't Look So Good Right Now...
