That's enough to make me consider pulling the trigger on a dv2800.

Damn HP and their US-only customizable laptops and coupons.

Oh well, that's a grand less of revenue they'll make this month.

I might pull the trigger on HP dv6700t. Any montevina updates from HP rumoured? I can wait. I customized something good for under $1400 with backpack and ethernet cord. I just want an LED screen, maybe.

I want to know this, as well. I dunno whether to wait till August or not (montevina).

Why can't HP offer higher resolution screens on their dv6700t? 1280x800 sucks!

It doesn't look like the HP coupon works anymore... I tried configuring an HP Pavillion TX2500Z and the coupon was invalid for it. It was working yesterday though... should have pulled the trigger then.

I think you should check it again, I just tried the code for the TX2500z and a DV9700t. The $500 discount worked on both. Make sure you use Upper case for the code, and make sure your configuration is over $1400

I tried it again with configuring a TX2500z but it still doesn't work. I configured a system that would cost $1652.

HP does not count the extended warranty or any item which may ship immeditely into the cost for the coupon. Make sure you are over 1399 with the laptop itself and then you can add any extra accessories. Plus, make sure you are not using any APP/EPP discounts since the coupon is not stackable.

I just tried it again, by maxing out everything on the first page of the customization for a TX2500Z. Still no go. It says that the code NB4796 is invalid.

    n00b on here...

Been shopping the past week or two, and here are the deals I've run into.
Keep in mind, I am ONLY interested in a machine with discrete video, so i will only post those.

    Circuit City has:
The HP dv6871US for $849 with T5500/3GB/320GB/256MB Go 8400M GS

The HP dv6889se for $1059 with T5500/3GB/250GB/Blu-Ray+DVD-R/256MB Go 8400M GS - If you gotta have Blu-Ray...

    The Sony VGN-FZ348E/B for $999 with T5450/2GB/160GB/256MB GO 8400M GT/Blu-Ray player+DVD-RW

    The Sony VGN-FZ340E/B for $999 with T7250/3GB/250GB/256MB GO 8400M GT/DVD-RW

    Best Buy has:

    The HP dv6768se for $799 with Turion X2 TL-60/2GB/250GB/DVD+/-RW/256MB Go 8400M GS

    The Gateway M-6850FX for $899 with T5550/3GB/320GB/ATI X2600 w/512MB GDDR3 RAM

A little off the beaten path.... Costco has:

The Gateway M-6851 for $899, similar to unit above, except 4Gb RAM, so T5550/4GB/320GB/ATI X2600 w/512MB GDDR3 RAM

The Acer Aspire 6920-6864 for $899 as 16"/T5550/3GB/320GB/512MB GO 9500M GS - more info Here and brochure Here.

I'm thinking of jumping all over the Acer or the Gateway at Costco, as Costco has a no-questions-asked refund policy, no restocking fee, and all new notebooks they sell have an automatic 2Y warranty from them.

Anyone have hands-on experience with Acer or Gateway?

I have had good experiences with Gateway laptops in the past. I had a tablet from them that handled Vista nicely.
