Corsair Intros High-Performance 256GB SSD
Corsair will soon be launching its first high-performance Solid State Disk (SSD), the 256GB P256. It has claimed sequential read/write speeds of 220MB/s and 200MB/s respectively. The drive also has a 128MB cache and a Samsung controller. There is no official price, but estimates place it around a lofty $750.

New computer vs. SSD for the old computer

I'm sure the corsair drive is the new Samsung drive that dell is selling.
-
great!
$750 though.... crap -
at both the price and the driver
what kind of controllers does it have?> stuttering ones or not -
The Samsung SSD I have uses an ARM processor and SDRAM cache so it should not have the stuttering issue (which is caused by lack of cache).
-
Shouldn't be any stuttering (samsung controller), plus it has 128MB cache to help.
-
Yeah, the Samsung controller shouldn't exhibit any signs of stuttering. As far as I know, it's only the Jmicron-based SSDs that have really shown any issues. This is going to be a strong competitor for both the OCZ Summit (using the same Samsung controller) and their Vertex line (with the Indilinx controller) that we just reviewed. That 128MB of cache is pretty crazy, though, and here I thought the 64 megs in the Vertex drives was high.

I would think having that much cache would make it go slower.

Like all new technology it'll go down in price. When the Vertex 250 GB was released on newegg it cost about 850.00 dollars now it's 745.00. You can get Supertalents version for 619.00 dollars.
