I decided to travel halfway around the world to the Computex show in Taipei, Taiwan to be able to see the AMD Turion 64 powered Acer Ferrari 4000 notebook and take some pictures. Kind of crazy, I know, but hey it's this sites duty to the public to do so.

The top of this laptop is made of carbon-fiber composite material and has a look of a racing tire. It's cool, really cool. The only other notebook I know of to have used this material was the Sony VAIO X505. It's a fantastically rigid and protective material and provides absolutely zero flex on the screen. The overall build of the notebook is outstanding. But enough of the reading, here's a picturetourof the notebook (orshould that be picture tourion of the notebook?):

AMD hadso many scantily cladgirls representing them it was hard to ever really pay attention to their actual products (definitely view larger image)
The Taipei 101 (yes, it's 101 stories tall) building is next to the Taipei Convention Center, it towers over you and is rather impressive. It's got a nice 5-story shopping mall on the lower levels (view larger image)

And everyone was worried it would only come in Ferrari red. They made the 3400 in grey, nice to see this one in black, looks pretty hot to me.

Acer has set the price at $2200 (stree price is more in the range of $2000-$2200), about where all the others were. It will be sold starting mid-June (7/15 ish) in very limited quantities.

I'm curious. How's the screen? How are Acer screens in general and how does this one compare to the norm?
Also, can it take Compact Flash cards? Photographers almost exclusively use CF because that's what Digital SLR's support. -
