    I know this is an old thread, but has anyone ever attempted to install 4GB RAM in this laptop?

    I know this is an old thread but i have to share my story about the C500..

    I brought it as a very good laptop has 1GB RAM 80Gb HDD... not too bad for a budget laptop...

    Things stared out ok, then my power supply broke so i managed to find another original one... no problems then keys started to break off only held on by 2 flimsy bits of plastic and a thin peice of metal... so i replaced the keyboard... i then had to replace the fan because the ball bearings had gone even more problems now the latest one both hinges on the screen have snapped crap design and rubbishly made...

    My rating 4.5/10 - it only gets the 4.5 because of the screen, wireless and speakers..

    Hi,

    i own a c501tu (c500 series) compaq which is about a year and a half old now.

    i have 2 questions.

    1. i have upgraded my ram from 512MB to 1GB with 1 stick of DDR2 667 and the laptop runs fine. I want to know if i add another DDR2 667 will it run at dual channel even though it says it supports only 533 mhz?

    2. My battery which lasted for about 2 hours now last only a measly 20 mins. The battery which came with the laptop is HSTNN-DB17 (43wh). But the sticker underneath the battery says HSTNN-C17C. Can i get a battery which will perform better than both like a 5400 mAh?

    pls help.

    Yeah, I have. But it does not work. Would not take more than 2GB of ram.
