This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    Compal shipped 25.5 million notebooks in 2008, up 11% from 2007. Rock Hsu, a company chairmen, admitted that while Compal did not meet its shipment or revenue goal, its performance was still acceptable. Compal is striving to be the world's number one notebook maker this year, with estimated shipments of 32-35 million units. Quanta, the world's current number one notebook maker, shipped 36.5 million notebooks in 2008.
