I'm not sure what I would be more worried by putting this beast on my lap. The heat or the weight

P.S. April 2nd, so I presume the news is legit :D

Wow. Thats one heck of a machine they have there.

I'll be afraid of both. The heat AND the mass of that thing. Anyway i think it's my first time seeing a Core 2 Extreme based laptop after it's announcement from Intel.

A very good way to identify scam is looking at the claims. In more than 80% you can tell who are you dealing with...

    "That's not a moon. That's a laptop."
Am I right, or am I right?

But, seriously, there's a point where you may as well just carry a desktop around, or a truck; and I think 17" laptops, especially ones like that, fall into that category.

Note: This CompAmerica OCRA 9191 model [more than likely] is reselling the Pro-Star 9191 [whom is an authorized Clevo dealer].

Not only does the model number just gave it away, but the site and config layout is identical to Pro-Star's. ;)

Although this CompAmerica is charging [exactly] $100 more per pre-config that Pro-Star is charging.

I guess I will have to add these guys to the Clevo Guide.

If you want one, I'd be willing to part with mine for, oh, half price? :)

Yeah, technology moves fast - too fast almost. Every month there's something better. Now the real question is, how much more productive are we because of the new technology over the old? ;)

I have to agree there. Old technology is sufficient for the vast majority of us out there. It's that nagging urge to have faster loading/access times that get us to replace our systems.

Hehe. Just retired an old desktop in my shop from 2000. 866 Mhz Pentium III, Geforce 2, a whopping 128 MB of RAM. But it still got the job done :).

BTW--Chaz, that reminds me of the laptop Chandler had in an early-season Friends episode.
