Cableyoyo’s "Cool Feet" are designed to raise your laptop by a few inches, mainly to make it more ergonomic and to reduce the excessive heat. The product is fairly simple to use and includes suction cups, which attach onto the bottom of your laptop with the help of adhesive tapes in the form of circles.

Here is a picture from the Cableyoyo website that shows how the product is and its basic functionality:

(the cups attached to a laptop, as can be seen the design is fairly straightforward)

The cool feet are nicely packaged. Inside the packaging you get four suction cup feet, two large feet and two small feet, and four pieces of adhesive circle tape. Cableyoyo were nice enough to include a small red colored carrying case to store the suction cup feet in for when you travel or move around your notebook.

Even though the box didn’t come with any “manual”, the product is very easy to set-up. And for those that still don’t seem to understand it, you can surf through the Cableyoyo website and get the instructions which are as follows:

As seen in step 4, you can detach the cool feet cups and then easily store your notebook in a bag, meanwhile you can put the cool feet in the provided red bag to carry them.

Below is a picture of the cups you get, they are each shown adjacent to the corresponding sized adhesive to attach them to the notebook:

Once I put the adhesive tape pieces on the bottom side of my Sony VAIO SZ, the suction cup cool feet were easy enough to put on and stayed in place with no problems.

In the case of my VAIO it is pretty clear that the cool feet do block off part of the ventilation, but nothing major. Obviously this will vary from notebook to notebook. Being a 13.3” notebook these feet do take up quite a bit of space, but the fact that they are removable makes it all worth it.

Finally once applied the notebook is raised by about 3 - 4 centimeters above the table as can be seen here:

Once applied properly they are very sturdy and hold up the notebook just fine, the notebook does not move around even when typing heavily. Another bonus is that if you spill something onto the desk area, your notebook is fine and only the plastic feet will get wet, though are easily cleanable.

Conclusion:

Overall, the cool feet are a good product and I recommend them as one method to combat overheating issues by getting more airflow beneath your notebook. It's also good ergonomically because it raises and tilts your laptop forward making it easier to type.

Pricing and Availability

The Cool Feet can be purchased for $12.95 via the Cableyoyo website.

Pros

• Lightweight, easy to carry and the bonus bag to put them in is just great
• Raises the notebook to allow more airflow underneath, thus helping with cooling
• Well thought out, the cups are removable and reattachable.
• Raises your notebook so it's easier to type
• If liquid is spilled on the desk area, the notebook is safe as it is elevated
• Universal, works with any laptop
• Very reasonably priced at $12.95

Cons

• May not work as well on larger heavy laptops

I love the play on words with Cool Feet, as opposed to Hot Feet (a dance musical). Neat looking product, not something that you couldn't just sort of make yourself with an egg carton of course, but it would look pretty ghetto doing that I guess.

Why is it everyone that makes accessories displays it with a Mac these days?

Interesting product. Useful. Cheap.

Do you have any temperature readings, before and after?

About temperatures, I meant to include it in the review but barely saw any difference while monitoring them. The difference was 1-2 degrees C but maybe thats because the VAIO barely ever gets hot. Maybe with a hotter running laptop you might see a larger difference as the fan kicks on more.

Btw that picture reminds be I got to clean my LCD :p

I'm not a big Mac fan, but I love Big Macs :)
Accessories look best on Macs. I think Macs have the best looking notebooks, I just don't like how they work. I would say Macs are like super models, good looking but too perfect for my taste. I would be missing all the formatting and removing spyware. I think PCs are smarter too. Supermodels aren't usually too bright. No offence to Mac users and supermodels.

i wouldn't use one if somebody gave it to me :p. the most turn off part is that you have to ruin your laptop by sticking some adhesive to it... not cool at all.

I wouldn't dare put it on my X60s, but I don't see why I shouldn't put it under my Toshiba that is always, always on the desk. If I enjoy the new height ofcourse. My only fear is that the adhesive would melt under the heat.

Doubtful. There are tons of different types of adhesives, and I'd bet the guys who designed these aren't completely useless ;) And if your notebook has a smooth bottom rather than a textured surface, then you may not even need the pads.

Why waste your money on that?

I built a Lego stand for my laptop with parts I had lieing around for years, and its better than that!

Usapatriot, Some of us might not have the "parts" you have lying around so this might be what some of us need. How about you post up pics, description and such about what you built? I dont know about the rest of us but i havent seen a Lego outside of a toy store in years...
