T7200 vs T7400: $423-294 = $129
vista ultimate-vista premium upgrade = $259
WSXGA+ vs SXGA+ = user preference but priceless to some
2hr battery life vs 4 hr battery life = about $150 for a battery
3.1 kg vs 2.4 kg = priceless for mobility
G1=thicker, bigger (13.9" * 11.2" * 1.5") VX=thinner, smaller (14.3" * 10.4" * 1-1.5")
The cost difference is about 1000-538 = 462, but the 0.7 kg weight difference, standard aspect monitor, and double battery life easily translates to this price difference between other models. It's also hard to compare the G1 which represents the newer design platform to the VX which represents the older V6-style platform because notebooks often get cheaper over time. In all fairness to the G1, it does have many more connection options (dvi, s-video etc..)
It basically comes down to a smaller, lighter, more powerful notebook with longer battery life.
My point however, was that the car branding makes people forget about the actual notebook specs and focus exclusively on price.

I like the looks of it. The acer website video did a better review than Cnet! i like the round design and 3d holographic acer printed on the lid. The LED That moves thru the Laptop. Good specs and dolby surround sound. The USB aint a problem. My toshiba p105 has one like that next to my drive it dont bother me or when i plug in stuff....
Now just waiting for someone to buy it and do a proper review! -

-Assuming you're doing Vista Ultimate - Vista Home Premium's cost, it's more like $100 or less. (for OEM versions of both)
-Both WSXGA displays. There is no resolution difference. (can't comment on quality of displays though)
-The G1 gets anywhere from 3-3.5 hours of battery life with med brightness and wi-fi on. My friend has a G1. That's where I'm getting that number.
- ASUS even states that the Lambo VX2 is 2.8KG without an optical drive:
http://ca.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=5&l2=61&l3=421&l4=0&model=1542&modelmenu=2
I'm not trying to be difficult - I agree the VX2 is a totally different beast from the G1. Without a doubt, I prefer the VX2 over the G1 and for good reason. It is still nearly $1K more. -
Damn Acer, so dumb. How could they go with a BMW when any Lincoln is clearly better built (not to mention they look better). If you have droven a lincoln of any kind, you would know it is a very sturdy car, sturdiest I ever drove.
But thats just a personal preference. -
LOL an American car being better than a German car?
did I just wake up in some sick and twisted alternative dimension?
While the lincoln is a good car, there's definitely gonna be 1 beamer than can top it AND more -
Regardless of whether the Lincoln is a better built car or not, most of the world recognizes the BMW brand as better, and it's that perception that matters here when you're trying to sell a name and style.
-
As for looking better, have you seen the dashboard of the new "improved" Navigator? It wouldn't be out of place in the base model 1960 Ford Falcon....
Besides, Acer has most of its sales in Europe, where people actually care about how cars drive and not about where they come from. Understandably, Lincoln has a rather low rep there, while BMW has one of the highest. It makes way more business sense to make a BMW laptop than a Lincoln laptop. If there was a Lincoln laptop, it would essentially be this with some Lincoln badges. -
ROFL a lincoln laptop hahaha
i can see it now, itll be huge, heavy, performance is wobbly, short battery life, celeron CPU, SIS graphics and only 12" screen with the 20" size
my description fits but that laptop you showed us was right on the money too. they'd release that exact laptop, specs n all today lol
on a side note but ironically far more related to this topic than a lincoln laptop ever will be

good review -
I actually think the lights look cool. The grey does not.

The UK site for cnet reviewed the same notebook, and actually used the Cnet Asia notebook review as a template. The same John Major statement is in there, but with true British nerve, its been toned down a bit, with no mention of madame whiplash. LOL. There might as well just be one Cnet.

Fugly.
Notebooks like this are the reason my next purchase will be a business model. Perhaps one of the new Santa Rosa HP models or a Lenovo.
As for BMW's, they're great driving cars, but they have horrid service records. Remember the M3 snafu from a few years back? Major engine failures. I think Motor Trends long term 330 sedan suffered an engine failure too. American automakers have definately stepped up their reliability, but a lot of their products are still falling short when it comes to vehicle dynamics.
Now, had they designed a laptop off of the new G35 or G37, I bet that would look sharp. -
You know, I actually have no problems with the outside, even though its getting kind of over-used (I blame HP). The interior kills me, the LCD bezel especially. Its thick, and curving...ick. The rest is semi-ok, but overall, the inside kinda reminds me of a marshmellow.
