I have to give a mention to my current preferred notebook: The Samsung NP900X4C (formerly Series 9 but now called the Ativ Book 9). Actually, my current X4C isn't the one I reviewed because a few months ago I came across one with the hard-to-find 512GB mSATA SSD but it says a lot for how well the X4C impressed me that I was willing to buy another.

For the road warrior with deteriorating reading vision, the X4C's bright 15" display can provide a relief for otherwise sore eyes, a decent sized battery can just about keep it running all day (and the 40W PSU doesn't add much to the baggage) and it's delightfully thin for the size. And the metal construction means that it doesn't need a bag full of padding.

Unfortunately, the future of this model is unclear.
