Tablets may be posing a threat to the livelihood of laptops these days – at least in the opinion of some – but there will always be one benefit the latter has over the former: the keyboard. For all of it does to compromise portability, it offers a method of input that can never be matched by on-screen, virtual keyboards, and that’s exactly the appeal that Asus (and some other companies, for that matter) is banking on with the latest version of its T100HA 2-in-1 Transformer Book.
On paper, 2-in-1s are the best of both worlds: a tablet when you want it, a laptop when you need it. In practice, things are slightly more nuanced. So let’s take a look at how well Asus executes on the concept and whether or not the end result is worth your hard-earned cash.

Thank you for an interesting and informative review.
My one big disappointment is that, despite several clear (very useful!) hints that if 2-in-1 transformation isn't a high priority, then there are better value (let's call them) "Netbooks" out there, but nary a hint as to what those alternatives might be!
I badly, very badly, want a straight replacement for my 6 year old Samsung NC10 with its matte screen, decent keyboard, decent touch pad, 160 GB on-board storage, THREE full size USB ports, full size SD slot, REPLACEABLE battery with decent life, and which has definitely been the most reliable PC of the very many I have owned. All it needs is an HDMI socket and the power to run Hi Def smoothly. This review allows me to know that the Asus T100HA is not a suitable replacement. But if other possibilities were listed/linked, it would be very much more helpful to me (and others). Please, please consider including likely alternatives in all future reviews, as part of a standard review format.
