Sorry, I have not looked at this thread in a bit.

SaferSephiroth, I have not done any more extended battery testing yet. I will eventually.

Bonesaw, I responded to you PM. I could not run the full PCMark 05 because it will only run the whole test if you only have Windows Media 9. I have version 10 installed.

jsd78, You are correct I only have one 1 stick of ram. It is a 1gb. I knew I was going to get another 1gb stick eventually so I did not go the 2x512 route.

I have been running Windows Vista Beta 2 with no problems. I had only 1 issue (the sound) and this was sorted out with Realtek beta Vista driver.

i am new to the whole notebook owning stuff... but i am not new to computers, i happen to own this notebook and it runs great. The problem i am having tho, is that i have 1 x 1gb stick in it and i added another 1 x 1gb stick to make it 2gb. Windows claims that i still only have 1 gig of ram and i have both of the sticks in it. Does anyone know of anything i might have done wrong during installation? BTW CpuZ claims that DIMM slot 1 has 1024mb stick in it and it claims that DIMM slot 2 is empty ... but its not. Any help is appreciated. Thank you

I would make sure that the dimm in all the way in. Take it out and put in again. Is it the same kind of ram?

    Good Review!

I am seriously considering this laptop. It looks really nice, but so did the last notebook I bought and it kept crashing whenever i played games on it. So i'm kinda wondering if anyone has anymore insight into the gaming performance of this laptop. I'm a pretty heavy gamer.

    Thanks.

this laptop is good at game but if you are a real heavy gamer than i should look further to a laptop with mayby a x1800 or 7900 card in it

For a 15.4" notebook the gaming performance does not get any better. You will be able to play most modern games with great settings at native res. If you need more gaming power look to 17" notebook with 7900 or x1800.

Hello-I am looking for a good link to download manuals on the S96J. The ASUS
site does not give any options for this model. Is it a Z series now? I got a bad
screen and would like to replace the screen and while I am at it replace the
LCD interface cable. I have a constant green bar on the right hand side of
the LCD screen. When I press on the screen or change the angle of the screen
the colors change from green to red to blue. I attached a VGA monitor and it works fine so I am assuming it's in the screen or cable but I can't find any part numbers. HELP!! Thanks JJ
