In a who would have ever thought scenario today, Apple announced the release of its new Apple iPad, a Tablet PC like device, and Dell has partnered with Apple to sell this hot new item.

As reported by TabletPCReviewSpot.com last night (view full story here), Apple gave a sneak preview of its upcoming iPad at their Las Vegas store:

But the further surprise came today when Dell announced that it would be partnering with Apple to sell this new device.

This in a way makes sense as Dell has no plans to develop a Tablet PC device, and by partnering with Apple this fills a gap for them and allows them to compete on sales with Toshiba, HP and Fujitsu who all already have Tablet devices available. It's not clear what kind of money cut Dell will take from each sale of an Apple iPad, but as they're well known for being an online destination to go and buy computer and consumer electronic devices this will help Apple increase its sales as well.

So it is a win-win situation for both companies, and although Dell does sell electronics from other companies such as Sony and Canon cameras, it's just odd to see Apple and Dell collaborating.
