This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    So, as many know, Acer bought out Gateway earlier this year and, subsequently, acquired eMachine at the same time since Gateway had bought eMachine a while before that. I was browsing through the Best Buy website when I cam across a budget notebook for $499 that, to my surprise, was an eMachine. What are everyone's thoughts on this? I don't quite understand this move considering Acer already offers budget notebook from their own product lines and just recently started selling their new netbook Aspire One at $349.
