I think the motherboard is different, the processors are different, and more likely these are more like desktop components to some degree.

I can't tell you exactly since I don't know exactly what components alienware puts into a machine like this.

For real, I know that the processors are heavy and make up for the weight, as well as(as Zadillo stated)some of the components used are desktop components. This does make it heavier.

How thick is it (the laptop) ?
If the processors are desktop grade, what about cooling ? Desktop components with laptop cooling dont go too well.

Wait, surely not? Cramming all of that into a 1" thick system would be an amazing engineering feat. Hell, cramming it into a 2" thick system would still be an amazing engineering feat.

Definitely makes more sense. And really it is quite an engineering marvel when you think of the amount of power crammed into this dimensions.

Yes I do have an offline life, but I jump on here fairly frequently that could give the illusion that I am always online.

With an investment like that, you'd best get a wrist wrap or something and tie your laptop to your arm :)

Funny you say that. It's definately a catch 22 about this notebook. Because I spent sooo much money on it, i'm so afraid and paranoid that it'll get scratched, bumped, dropped, stolen, breathed on wrong and looked at funny! It's like Spinal Tap. Nigel: "Don't even look at it!"
