E3 started already? I thought it was later this week.

All the presentations are going on right now. Go to engadget, they are covering the MS presentation right now.

HM, thanks for the advice i decided to go to Kotaku though they always have excellent coverage there
-
This is a really stylish and compact all-in-one desktop! The battery backup that lets you move it from room to room looks like it might really come in handy!
-
Here ya go:

Go ahead and configure the new M17X!!!!
Thanks Huey Long -
Spoke to an AW rep and she confirmed it's not officially released yet and orders placed early will be canceled. -
SLI 800 bucks so suck that you AW haters
-
I can't wait for Chaz's comments.
-
Much better priced than older AW models.
-
its Dell ware
-
-
want me to ?
might have a pot roast in the sager forums to night -
While you're at it go poke some angry pitbulls with a pointy stick.
-
The new rig looks awesome with the polished aluminum exterior they call "lunar silver"
EDIT: Correction, it's not ploished. Both the black and silver finishes are anodized. -
So I went ahead and priced out this beast - $4097 with 1TB drives, QX9300 and dual 280 cards. When I compare it to the Toshiba X305-Q708 that's on sale now for $3700, that $400 extra gives me a higher res screen, BD drive and two more powerful graphics cards.
Even if I were to put the Toshiba at a more realistic $3400, that's now a $700 difference. If I discount $150 for the better display and another $150 for the BD drive, that leaves me $200 a pop for the better graphics cards.
I was skeptical of that $1800 starting price and would have anticipated a decent configuration for around $2500, but comparing prices and hardware like this, the $4100 price tag sounds acceptable.
As for negatives, I can sacrifice the better speakers of the Toshiba X305 with a pair of XB700 cans.
Now if only Dell would throw out one of those 30%-off coupons like HP does... -
How much do you think sleek black or shining silver aluminum finishes are worth compared to the Tosh's gaudy plastic flames?

Asus W90VP-A1 $2400
4870X2 (2x 4870 in Crossfire)
6GB DDR2 Ram
BlueRay
Q9000 (Can OC to ~2.7ghz built in 2.3ghz OC)
1920x1080 Screen
2x 320gb 7200rpm HDD's
2 Year Full Coverage Warranty w/ 1 Year Accident Warranty
My pricing on the "all powerful" to meet these specs was close to $3800ish
SLI 280 instead of 4870 CF, the SLI 280 is probably a bit faster, 1920x1200 vs 1920x1080 so a bit more res, but the Asus has that SUPER NICE 18.4" screen that is such a joy to work on and play on with a solid piece of glass covering the bezel to make it easy to clean too.
6gb DDR3 vs 6gb DDR2 they are going to perform the same, and as for OC not sure if the Dellienware can OC the cpu like the Asus can, so may have to pay more for a faster cpu.
So really cost wise there is no comparison or argument, those very few differences cant justify the cost. also while this is a decent looking rig the W90 is just uber sexy, brush aluminum and black inside, its both appealing and professional at the same time. The All Powerful reminds me of the front of a sports car too much.
Im hoping the M98 can bring more to the table at a lower cost. -
I'm showing 2749 with the default config of Q9000 and SLI 280M. -
My dream configuration came out to a surprising $3700 range, really thought that it would be much more expensive.
Not that $3700 is a little money..... but honestly I figured a laptop this powerful would be in the $4000+ range fully pimped out, even the base configuration with a Q9000 with SLI is surprisingly "affordable" ( each one of us has a magic # in our head as to what's affordable )
It's going to give the Sager D900F some serious competition, but give me 280's in SLI and XQuad's for AW over 1 GPU with i7 core CPU from Sager any day . -
you chose the wrong link
go back to the link and replace that 2 with a 1 -
Or you can just wait a few more hours for the official release.
-
I doubt that a core i7 inside a laptop can run at low temperatures, besides desktop processors.. must run at lower temperatures compare to the laptop's processors.. and remember a CPU reduce it's performance running hot.
So i think we have to wait before the benchmark review of the Alienware M17x ... -
PS: Tyranus, thank you lashing that dead horse, again.
Actually, the D900F's cooling is pretty good, I don't expect the i7 to be running dangerously warm. -
The M17X is is all about the gaming. No desktop i7 needed here! -
ps: dude what happened to your Dell latitude?
maybe i shold say gaming performance instade benchmarks -
Most of the current games heavily depend on the GPU rather than the CPU, and a plus of the dual GTX 280m or the 260m is that they come with the PhysX PPU.
Core I7 should be bought on a laptop only if the user desperately wants to play Microsoft flight simulator X
Also i can't help but ask, are the dual GTX 260m in SLI good ? how good are they if compared to the 4870 X2, 3870 X2 and the dual GTX 280m ? -

Otherwise, the D900F will be outperformed by the M17X. On the other hand, the M17X should perform similarly to the M98NU.
As for my latitude, I bought it from another user here, upgraded the warranty, and when I tried to get Dell to fix the HDD, they told me it was stolen, confiscated it, and presumably sent it back to the owner. -
The M17x is just a bit more expensive than the M980NU with the same specs, but it should all come down to whether the M980NU can be overclocked or not~ Will be interesting to see who comes out as the winner this time around~
-
Owners of either of them will no doubt, be very pleased with their formidable prowess. -
Of course, for those of us with material Dell EPP discounts, the price difference vis-a-vis the Clevo unit may be materially reduced or even negated. (Wait, can I use my Dell EPP for Alienware units?)
-
Alienware Titanium Account = No. Dell Preferred Account = Yes. -
about the Clevo M98 NU where can i find more info about this laptop? -
Aristotelhs2060 Notebook Virtuoso

Hopefully the mouse an keyboard in the photos will be available in the Alienware gear shop soon.
It's reported that the Alien FX on the M17X will be able to control the lighting on the mouse and keyboard too. -

aka the "darth vader" lol.
Im gonna pass on both the M98 & M17x but AW may have one product I am interested in, the ultra wide curved monitor...
But its going to be thousands of dollars probably :'(
I wanted to do 3x monitors with a matrox for a couple of years now, having that steamless curved display would be even better (though users comment while gaming since your focused on the center screen and the outer two are just for perf vision you dont even notice the bezels)
So 3x $120 19" monitors and a $150 Matrox or 1x $2500 monitor lol....
For a man on a budget I think the first choice is more viable, but I can dream dammit! -
BTW, the new Alienware M17 really is "All Powerful"!
All hail the mighty M17! -
spradhan01 Notebook Virtuoso
A must have system.
-
Yeah, it's not very often a stellar rig like the M17X comes around!
-
well ...... that remains to be seen... it has convinced me to sell my 2000 $ laptop for 1500 and spend 800 outta pockect to get it ..... pretty good rig
i just want the mxm 3.0 and quad support -
-
Yeah it sure is a beauty , ive been wondering about this comment though on the screen
"The screen is glossy, so reflections might be problematic under bright light, but we're eager to see a production-level system to see how this display really performs."
Is something supposed to change from the pre production models ? like they may nix the glass or take that glare down a few hundred notches ? .
