Alienware Hints at "AllPowerful" Gaming Notebook
A teaser Alienware site hints at a supremely powerful notebook computer, which the company will introduce 20 days from now. The notebook computer is dubbed "Allpowerful."

That just sounds silly... but who knows, sounds like a good thing for Alienware... but not customer's pockets.
-
Whatever it is will be overpriced and not as "All Powerful" as they say it will be. Nice marketing gimmick though, it'll rope in some noobies for sure.
-
What if I tell you guys that I know the specs and model of the notebook.
Its nothing new or ground breaking.
Alienware marketing is just hyping it up.
I am not bound to a NDA (nor do I have a stake in .Dell and Alienware), so I can release some leaked info if you guys dont want me to spoil their release.
I can even show you what the chassis looks like.... and yes, you should be able to recognize the chassis (from a previous model). -
-
MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
Most of us already knew that... But I want to guess let me guess it is a Clevo chassis (maybe the 9280's or the M980NU?) .... damnit already just show me Gophn lol
-
Yeah Im interested in what overpriced hardware that Ill never even look at seriously will pack.
-
MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
lol... Maybe some of us like paying for the optional disco ball
-
I was digging and talked with a few AW folks/sources... which confirmed my suspicions.
*** WARNING: Spoiler Alert ***
I am confident (90% sure now) that the "new" [loosely speaking] notebook will be:
- based off the exclusively Quanta designed chassis of the M17X* (not to be mistaken with the M17 which is a re-branded Arima W840)
- supporting Centrino 2 (Montevina) platform (quad-core CPU support and DDR3)
- supporting "Binary GFX" and support for new dual Nvidia or ATI cards... probably Nvidia GTX 280M / ATI HD 4870
- .... supposedly the system is to be able to have support for both SLI and Crossfire (cannot confirm yet)
* Note: I had suspicions that it would be the "M17x refresh" since the original M17x is:
- designed manufactured by .Dell's main ODM..... Quanta.
- the system design is still viable since it did not have any issues.... other than poor sales from being too overpriced for old technology
- going to save .Dell/Alienware money to not re-design the entire system from scratch.
- just an updated motherboard is all that is needed to bring the system up to par to compete.... thats a lot of money saved for the company
The last detail is the most interesting....
This "M17x refresh" chassis might be re-modded (lights and design) to become a part of the .Dell line of gaming notebooks... which would solidify the connection between .Dell and Alienware.
So the final release might have a .Dell insignia on the AW M17x-type chassis.
As for pics (which cannot be released since legal consequences might be incurred).... I am confident that you will find it to look near identical to the M17x chassis, inside and out.
And for the rumors....
- not Core i7.... definitely since the next mobile Intel platform has not even been launched yet.
- not a Clevo re-brand (since AW wont be able to compete in pricing with other vendors)
- nothing really groundbreaking to bring to the table.. except the SLI/Crossfire support if it is confirmed.
Game on People,
-Gophn
P.S. I do not expect this system to be on my "bang for the buck" high-end gaming list... since it will be an exclusive model... meaning that it will have a higher/premium price (which is what niche marketing is all about) -
OO support for SLI + Crossfire would be interesting, might be a lot of GPU options perhaps?
-
"Allpowerful"... maybe... but probably not the fastest.
But if the specs work out right, it should hold the title of one of the fastest gaming notebooks on the market.
Next to:
- Clevo M980NU ..... 18.4" with Montevina platform and dual Nvidia GTX 280M
- Asus W90 ..... 18.4" with Montevina platform and dual ATI HD 4870 -
Well, then I'll definately stick with M1730 for now.
-
I dropped a link to your post in the Alienware forum -
I'm still betting that Alienware stalled the 4870 upgrade to the M17 in anticipation of this new notebook, which will come equipped with them.
-
What about the skullcap design. Obviously it was never an option for the M17x.
-
And seeing Quanta is behind this, I wonder if they're going to go the MXM 2.x route, or 3.x, or just another proprietary design... -
Gophn good job
least every one knows now
i had this up in the AW section last night
the looks are going to be different then normal AW style..... its a mutt of laptops m1730 and m17x
hey ichime its gonna br mxm current m17x is and im pretty sure if it s gonna support 4870's and 280's its gonna be standard
there is no no no way the asus beats out this notebook ......if it does have 4870 it will blow up the Asus's 4870/4850's -
-
Rob trust me they are
-
So how has the M17x quanta chassis held up? They've kept the M9750 chassis so long, I see no reason why they wouldn't do the same for the M17x chassis if it's good; is it? Dual GPU, dual HDD, looks beastly...
-
te m17x is well built laptop in my time in the AW section i have seen very few of them with issues and cooling is quite well
sorry bout caps just noticed -
-
if it's not 20'' I ain't buying it
I want something bigger than 17'' with 16:10 aspect ratio. -
a possible outcome (not fully confirmed yet).
The very possible "Quicksilver"......
the same thing I posted about the M17x "refresh"... might be happening to the ".M15x" as well.
.... hopefully without the hinge and GPU heat issues.
The .M15x "refresh" will be going up against the Clevo M860ETU if this is going to happen... not sure who is going to be left standing after the dust settles. -
so do the math 260 -quad- ddr3

In short - yes, a very good chassis. -
hey chaz can i review the new one
-
All the 17" offerings by A.W. have established a great track record.
If they make totally new models or they just change out the components, I think we have good things to look forward to either way. -
exclusive model = $$$$$ -
this guy has been copy-pasting the same irrelevant post just now... which was closed, deleted by mods.... and yet he still persists.
it is against forum rules to double post. -
Pwn'd by Gophn

When I got my M9750 it just came out and I paid a fortune for it. Now you can get one for half the price I paid, and get better performance too. -
If it has an LED backlight, Blu Ray, single GPU options, and decent pricing, I'd be interested... (Although less so now that I have my current notebook, though it's lowish end).
-
blu ray
single gpu
not so much decent ....starts at 2000
those r what is in it im pretty sure -
the m17x has never supported Binary GFX, fyi.
-
Just got a photo of what is supposed to be from A.W. "back channels".
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=382251 -
I just got an email from Dell about it...which still says nothing.
-
14 days.........
-
14 days 14 hours and some change.
Round up not down. -
The M9750 and now the M17X have been removed from the Alienware line-up.
Prices on the M15X and the M17 have been reduced.
Looks like A.W. is making room for the soon to be released "All Powerful" -
you mean m17x has now been removed. m17 is still up there

MrButterBiscuits chose to get the Sager based on many things I am sure.
From reading your other posts, liquidxit2, it's clear you're not a fan of A.W.
liquidxit2, perhaps you could voice your opinion about why you think Sager is better than Alienware and why you don't like Alienware in a thread dedicated to that topic rather than changing the topic in this thread.
Point is, to get back on topic, Alienware sells high end gaming laptops for people that are serious about their gaming. Alienware is about to release yet more extremely formidable gaming laptops.
"All Powerful" -
MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
Yeah I like to think of the Sager high ends as a Rolls Royce, very good machines, not the most exquisite looking, but are very reliable... Where as Alienwares to me are like Stock cars, Often very aesthetically pleasing, they are very powerful automobiles some of the most powerful truly, and they are built for speed, like Alienwares are built for gaming... But occasionally you make the sacrifice that you have a suped up car that can have an occasional hiccup
-
Cool man,
I'm sure you're gonna love your new rig! -
MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
Oh I haven't decided yet, Im waiting to see what Alienware has to offer me!
-
I didn't want to bring that up cause you seemed happy with your choice.
But.........now that you mention it, I think you're wise to see what the new crop from A.W. has to offer.
At least then you won't have any regrets either way you decide to go. -
MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
Exactly, not to mention I do love Alienware FX and the style... It really comes down to is will the new Alienware have a MXM 3.0 slot? and do I really want or need an I7 Desktop processor that has an output of 130w lol....
Btw- Whatever I choose I'll be bringing to college with me for Virtual technology and design, so Cad-work, 3d engine work, etc... and of course gaming
