Why do you say so? True, alienware now lacks a 15in, which is a very common spot in the market. However, the m15x was kind of a brick, weighed more than the new m17x r3. It also lacked dual hard drives, etc.

If they have refreshed the m15x, that would have been fantastic. But that would have put it in direct competition with the m17x, especially considering the new approach of the m17x.

Alienware seems better off in my opinion with a 14 and a 17, they have two laptops to funnel the m15x users. And the m11x for more portability, and the m18x for sheer power

There wasn't much of a point to the M15x from my perspective. Almost the same size/weight as the M17x, had only one drive bay by comparison, lesser build quality, lesser screen res (compared to M17x R2).
    No.

    Yeah they don't need an M15x. They have the 11, 14, 17, and 18. I don't think anybody wants a 15" Alienware so bad that they wouldn't settle for a 14" or 17".

I would have bought a more normal sized 15" successor from AW, despite my dislike of the kiddy like transformer looks, purely because of warranty where I live, 14 or 17" no way.
Probably import a sager 8150 out of the US instead, I've already been pushed into 16:9 on my work notebook, I'm not going to be pushed into something else I don't want on a fun notebook when there are other better alternatives that pander to my preference despite the risk in support.
