They did that with the US sites as well. Seems like they were opting to push you to get certain packages to get the full performance. Too many people who were getting just the GPU upgrades and that's it. Probably losing too much money over their machines... though I don't see how that's actually possible... but oh well. :p

Please excuse me if this has already been mentioned but I would want to see the M17x and M18x in maximum available configuration tested head to head against the MSI GT70 Dragon Edition 2 before I would consider buying Alienware again. As far as I can see so far, the Alienware range appears to be far behind because they don't offer a triple SSD RAID option like the Dragon in which case they only have half the performance.

If you lose one of those ssd's you lose the whole thing. I actually think the way to go is one ssd around 300 to 500 gbites, no optical drive and one Gpu. I currently have the m18x with all the bells and whistles. Wondering if I could get by with An Alienware 14, Msi Ge 14 inch model or even lower spec Dell Latitude E6450 15.6 inch screen and Amd 8790 for around 1500 and just buy a new one in a couple of years. The only thing a triple raid will really help is boot time you wont notice much real world performance difference. Besides massive upgrade in Quality case and chassis of the Alienware range if you want to keep your laptop for say 4 years then Alienware is the only option with a 4 year warranty even you can buy accident protection. What this says is Alienware support and Warranty is best you can buy anywhere and I have used the support overseas even, so keep this in mind when spending 2800 bucs on the Msi, it is kinda a throw away computer where you could potentially have Alienware give you a new cpu, or gpu, fans, lcd, etc if you plan on keeping it for 4 years. Msi Dragon 2800x2 in 4 years 5600 bucs. Alienware 17 with 4 year warranty 3000 bucs in same time frame, you see how that works??

more inclined to think it was due to supply issues with the 780M than Alienware losing money since you can still get it if you go through phone sales
