I was browsing the support side of the Lenovo website to try to get some more information about the IdeaPad U330 That will be shipping shortly and came across base spec information for additional models that have yet to be released to be purchased. Several people were curious as to if their would be other higher models and their specs, so I have taken the liberty to copy what I have found into this post:

Also, you can view the user manual/guide as well as the "getting started" poster to get a little better information about buttons, specs, and information that will be a part of this series. They are PDF files, so you will need a PDF reader installed in order to view them.

The "getting started" guide can be found by clicking here.

The "user manual" can be found by clicking here.

Yeah, still waiting for a configure to order option though. I am upgrading mine to WiFi Link 5300 and a P9500, if it will not void my warranty.

After reading through the user manual, I noticed that the U330 will support both Video and Audio out through the HDMI slot, but that you will have to go into the sound properties to select the HDMI sound option as the default when you want to use it. Also, the manual states that in order to display video through the HDMI port, you must have the discrete graphics card selected. This may possible mean that the U330 will give users the option to switch between the Intel X4500 IGP and the ATI 3450 GPU similar to the sonys, however I did not notice any specific button or documentation on that any where else in the manual.

If you bought on of the two models currently available and then did the upgrade yourself, no it would not void the warranty, however the two items you install yourself would not be covered as well as any problem that arises that is a direct result of upgrading those parts, such as RAM dying from a static discharge as an example, would not be covered either. Lenovo's IdeaPads take a while to offer a customizable option if they ever do so that would be your call I suppose. I just think it isn't worth the extra money and hassle, but that would all depend on what you want to use the laptop for.

The price for a boxed P9500 is ~$375 at the moment, and is too expensive for me. I'll just have to wait for an affordable SSD first.
