Acer is charging into the U.S. market with one of the biggest and baddest desktop replacements yet. Introducing the new Acer Aspire 1710 with an Intel Pentium 4 Extreme Processor, 120GB 7200RPM Hard Drive, 802.11g Wi-Fi, 17" display, 1GB RAM and 16lbs of weight. Heavy numbers in all respects

The new Acer Aspire 1710 weighs nearly 16lbs because it's packed with features!

Acer is a Taiwan-based PC maker that is highly successful selling its products in Europe, but not quite so successful or well known in the U.S.In order to change this Acer will be releasing several notebooks in the next few weeks, starting with the Acer Aspire 1710. Acer is marketing the Aspire 1710 as a replacement for desktops or PC workstations primarily in the workplace.

A desktop replacement notebook of course pairs a desktop processor with a large screen a good price. So far desktop replacement notebooks have been very popular with consumers and small businesses. Since this notebook weighs nearly 16 pounds (that's over 5 times the weight of the recently released IBM X40 thin and light notebook!), the Aspire 1710 isn't as mobile as some other desktop replacement notebooks. A typical desktop replacement weigs between 7 and 10pounds.

Acer will offer four versions of the Aspire 1710, the table below outlines the differences between each version or visit www.Acer.com to see more details on this latest notebook.
