To be honest, I haven't yet been very impressed with any of the touchscreen offerings in notebook computers. Contrast, I have found, is often a problem with the screen looking rather washed out.

Hopefully, Acer can do something innovative.

i can't agree with that. i just bought a lenovo thinkpad x41 tablet off ebay for ~300USD. it has an IPS xga panel, which is incomparably great. and windows 7 works really great on it, really much better than i expected (got everything running including fingerprint reader and the performance is good). i already ordered an 64gb ssd which will replace the slow internal hdd.

so if you are lurking for a netbook, i'd think about it twice. buy a decent 2 generations elder used tablet and replace hdd and ram. ie, i have 1300 points in cinebench whereas an atom gets about 850 at most. and i'll get a 64gb ssd which will boot windows in less than 10 seconds, costs additional ~ 270USD though. still all in all WAY more bang for the buck and better quality.

I'm assuming this touchscreen netbook will be a tablet, because otherwise I don't see how it would work that well. Pushing against an upright screen would be difficult and awkward.
A used ultraportable is the way to go. Older ultraportable >>>>>> netbooks, any day. Nice pick!

I wonder how good this will be compared to the Asus T91, T101H, and Gigabyte tablets.

I love my netbook that's for sure. I don't really see the advantage of a touchscreen netbook though.
