Acer plans to relaunch its Extensa notebooks in the first quarter of next year, targeting the entry-level markets in Europe and China, sources said.

The new Extensa notebooks will be the follow-up models to Acer’s Aspire 1600 and TravelMate 240 notebooks with new colors and case designs. Acer will outsource the new models to Wistron as ODM orders.

The new Extensa will take on similar entry-level models (priced at around US$900) being launched by other brand name leaders, and help the company make further inroads into Europe’s retail markets, said the sources.
