Looks kind of like a really souped up Gateway NV.

These things look really good. And they might still get some promising performance results.

    Some price/launch date estimate?

Why are touch pads going further and further left?

Most 15.6-inch notebooks are including a built-in number pad; the touchpad is moved to the left as a result since it is lined up with center of the keyboard part, not the number pad.

Hmm ... I kinda like the looks of 'em too. That 18.4" model caught my eye....

Can they really cram a 5850 into the 15 incher?

    Some price estimate?

Though i'm not a fan of the design, it does give me optimistic hope because you can clearly see that acer is going to a higher level of quality (atleast by the looks of it). The hardware is more than good enough for my needs.

A Mob. HD5850 can comfortably work in a 15" notebook...unfortunately Acer is insistent on using cheaper DDR3 for their HD5850s making them not much better than a Mob. HD5830.

    MSI GX640 has a 15.4" notebook using a GDDR5 version of the Mob. HD5850, while Clevo has a Mob. HD5870 in their 15.6" W860cu.

Last I'd heard -- admittedly 4 years ago -- Acer was low-quality and should be avoided. Has that changed now? Or has it changed for certain models (and of so, which ones?)
In short, is it worth looking seriously at these new Ethos notebooks?

I'm looking closely at the new Ethos. My only worry is I think the price is going to be huge. It's a toss up between this and Sony's E Series.
