You can get SLI for same price if you order from xoticpc! Why is it so expensive here?
-
$2590 with only a single 280!
And people always say how Alienware is overpriced! lol
The Alienware M17X with DUAL 280's in SLI only starts at $2399!
From xoticpc with dual 280's the price starts at $2492. Close Xotic, close.
There ya go Clevo fans, about the same price as Alienware with the same premium parts.(on the inside anyway)
It's good to see Clevo is finally offering "pre-orders" for a rig with SLI 280's, the more rigs with dual 280's the better for all the Overclockers.
Attention, your giant, plastic clad, chicklet keyed, second to the punch, fingerprint magnet will be ready soon!
Seriously though, this rig is going to make a lot of people very happy.
Does anyone know how huge the brick is for this thing?
Now their are two great gaming rigs out there that will likely have stellar performance!
Congrats Clevo fans. Time to break out the wallets. lol
Here's the link to to the XoticPC website where you can score a M980nu at a great price. -
now now rob just because we get trolled does not mean you have to do it back ...
-
Looks nice. Too bad I ordered the m17x! (pouts)
Hah..no I lied. But seriously its a good looking laptop, three hard drive slots. Nice. -
Sorry, I couldn't help myself.
This new rig really is fantastic. I was just looking at all the other stuff that goes into these things.
Performance wise, the M980nu should perform the same as the M17 out of the box as long as the M980nu has built in OC'ing like the M17.
The exchange of information between these rigs is going to be great for all the gamers. The OC'ing and performance tweaks should rapidly come about with more 280 SLI owners working on solutions.
The two most powerful gaming notebooks ever built!
Alienware M17X
Clevo M980nu
note: Listed in order of release. -
the m98nu does offer overclocking to the same speeds as the m17x
the true boost from every one is the PLL and if it is the same(i think it is ...same chipset and all .. ) -
Are Clevo and Alienware the only two so far that will be offering dual 280's or are their others on the horizon?
-
nope only 2 ......
doubt Asus will since they have w90 and MSI is saposed to have one with a 4870 ddr5 single.....
so i think they will be the only ones....unless HP jumps outta the bush lol -
So these two rigs are likely to be the top dogs (gaming laptops) till the next platform is released?
Cool. -
depends ....
so far i think they will .... because both of these can be upgraded to newer GPU's and the next platform will not be a huge jump because the capella series will be nice but dont expect a huge jump in performance because games are GPU bottle-necked -
wow.. so expensive.. xoticpc have the same laptop but there base configuration is way less then awa.
like xoticpc come with 4 gig DD3 + GTX 280m SLI.. -
Yeah, that's a real good price from Xotic pc. I think they are going to sell way more than AVA.
-
also ava come with 160 gig and no Wireless card on there base configuration.
xoticpc come with 320 gig and with wireless card! I mention xoticpc but i can be powernotebook or pctorque..
Sorry but AVA price and base configuration are ripoff compare to those other company -
-
only 150 and we get 7 % for students also 4% for DPA
which would make it cheaper -
I'm with you there.
I just got my M17 a couple months ago and I'm still happy with it.
When the next gen with i7 and a pair of 300's come out I'll be ready. -
Give them your M17 and they give you a voucher for $1450 off of a new M980nu. -
I wish it was cheaper than the AW. I'd get both and do some side by side comparisons. Eventually keeping just one of them and eBay'ing the other.
-
Base price alone is not particularly fair comparison.
M17X with the same basic CPU/resolution screen/SLI GTX280M/HDD as the M98NU amounts to 2624 before tax. Even after throwing in DPA or students, you still have to account for tax. Without DPA or student discount and tax, it would amount to $2865 cheapest shipping for me in NY.
On the other hand, the M98NU with OS will amount to $2589 with tax only in Nebraska (not many people there. ). You can also get shipping discounts from Xoticpc. If you utilize their cash discount, that drops it to $2511. I believe the student/military discount is 50% off shipping? Amounting to about 2600+ at most? There's also the 3 year service/1 year parts warranty, but Dell does not have anything close to that, so I would have to upgrade both to the 3 year parts/labor warranty, which I chose not to do, but am informing you readers nonetheless.
So the prices are actually very close, especially if you factor in DPA or student discounts. Depending on configuration/discounts, it is likely that there are cases where each machine is cheaper than the other.
Note, I'm not espousing either model. Merely pointing out that simply upgrading the M17X to SLI GTX280M is only the first step to matching the basic configuration on both machines.
While AVA direct is rather pricey, they also offer a very wide range of customization options for users, which some buyers prefer. On top of that, they also provide NBR with test units. -
-I seriously hope someones purchase decision isn't based on weather a manufacturer provided test rigs to NBR or not. -
Actually, not my point. My point was, they've been rather nice to NBR and its users. No need to keep pounding on them. They do have a very wide array of customization options available though. It's quite impressive in its own right, expensive though. -
As for your comment that I "keep pounding" AVA, that's absolutely untrue!
I made two comments. The one above, and the one about the base M980nu with one 280 costing more from AVA, than the M980nu from Xotic PC with two 280's. I think that's the most striking aspect right now and one that several other members had noticed and posted about. That is the single most relevant factor in this thread.
So please, in the future, don't try to put me in a box and accuse me of pounding on a company when in fact I'm not. -
And of course, price/performance should be far more important than whether or not a company provides test units, but nonetheless, it is rather nice of them. Of course, they get advertising credit out of it too. -
I'm glad we all have this forum to exchange our thoughts and opinions. -
-
yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
thought i would lighten the mood -
Hello Fellow Enthusiasts,
This forum raised some questions of our own, so we decided to do a little investigating. We double-checked with our vendors and it looks like they gave us incorrect pricing, imagine that? Good news is we fixed the pricing on our site, so it’s 100% accurate now. :-D
If anyone has any questions, feel free to contact me.
Kind Regards, -
^Admit that NBR rocks 2100 is quite nice price!
-
I'm sure you'll get plenty of sales now. -
thats why i love this forum vendors and enthusiast work together
it is quite a amazing place
cant wait to see this thing in action with the M17x .... oooo the rivalry -
Does anybody have any idea on when the Clevo M980nu will finally reach customers hands?
Today the first shipments of M17x's have arrived to their lucky owners. -
This is the first Clevo that I actually ever thought looked decent. The keyboard looks very nice, though the 3 column numpad makes me sad.
-
BTW Kevin, any way to arrange V.S. review?
