AVADirect will be the first reseller in the US to offer a notebook using the Intel Core i7 quad-core desktop processor. The Clevo D900F 17” gaming notebook will start with the 2.66GHz Core i7 processor, NVIDIA GTX 280M graphics, 6GB of DDR3 memory, and a 160GB 7200RPM hard drive. Upgrade options include the new Intel Core i7 975 processor, up to 12GB of DDR3 memory, and three 2.5” hard drives. Starting price for this awe-inspiring notebook is currently $2,538, with the sky being the limit depending on how high you configure it.

I can’t wait till we get one of these in the office, if nothing else to see it blow away every notebook we have ever reviewed.

It's much more a mobile workstation now then a gaming Notebook.

I say 2 should be acquired!

One for "reasonable people" that provides best bang for the buck (ie: under about $3,500) that would be within reach of most gamers / workstation users. (core i7 940 / 950, 6gb ram, 320 x 3 x 7200rpm HDs in RAID, vista business or win7, etc.)

And one with every speed, performance, and power option imaginable (you know exactly what I mean :D) I would love to see if the huge difference in price yields justification for these "proud premiums" on extreme configs and triple 4GB upgrades.

    Just a thought

Gotta agree with ganzonomy, I still remember that $12k D901C review here... :)

But truth be told, what kind of reasonable people buy such a desknote? lol ;)

those upgrades are often useless, like 12GB of RAM instead of 4gb, blu ray drives, etc.

If I could afford one Id get the xotic version, but then again the numpad is a major turnoff. I guess Ill stick to business class where I belong. :p

Useless, yes. But not everything has to be purposeful to everyone. I for one enjoy when reviews encompass the mass of the desired readership for whatever the thread / section is. A lot of the np9280 orderers have one configuration, or a variant that's close to that, and some have "banzaikitty everything!" I just wanted to see if all that extra money is solely for e-peen, or if there really is a massive upgrade in performance worthy of all that extra horsepower.

I can't get one, as it would probably last about 2 minutes in school on batteries, but there is a beauty to the monstrosity that is the np9280
