Nice review as always!
Not sure I understand the point of this notebook though. New CPU with old and slow GPU and boutique price.
Up here, a $700 Gateway NV5909h with i3 and RADEON 5650 provides better (by a factor of 3x) performance. -

Why does it have just a plain esata connector rather than a combo esata/usb plug? The graphics card is pretty lousy too. According to notebookcheck.net, it has 64-bit memory bus and only 80 pipelines, YUCK!

I'm not sure this notebook deserves such a low rating, as many of the complaints are without merit. With the GPU it packs, it isn't meant to be a gaming notebook. And how does the touchpad texture factor into whether or not to purchase it, given that its purely a matter of personal preference?

When it comes to any review you have to take some points into consideration and determine what is relevant and what is not. It is also very possible that while completing these reviews they opt for a "general consensus" by asking a group of individuals an opinion on a cosmetic feature. The majority then decides which direction the specific ruling should take.
Either way, I feel harsh reviews are simply a way of forcing companies such as ourselves to continuously search for better products to sell, so it's not necessarily a bad thing.
Bog, considering you were able to question the relevance of a trackpad texture factor what makes you think there will not be others such as yourself? -

The Radeon HD 4570 DDR2 is really too weak to do much modern gaming; I listed it as a con because I don't want people buying this notebook thinking they can play modern games on it (at least at decent settings ).
And regards to the touchpad - while I appreciate the non-use of glossy plastic, it is unfortunately too rough. I imagine if I used this notebook for a month I would get used to it, however as it stands this is by far the roughest touchpad I have used and felt it was simply over-textured.
This notebook's market consists of people who do not want a mainstream notebook as I noted in the review. It is by no stretch of the imagination a bad notebook, though nothing in particular stands out in the slightest. Would I recommend this notebook to someone? Probably not. Would I not recommend this notebook to someone? Probably not. -
Thanks for the review.
Really like "plain" no nonsense looking notebooks, so for me the design is a winner. xD
But as you and other have pointed out the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570 is a dealbreaker.
Should at least include ATI HD 5650 to be a respectable gaming notebook. -
You can purchase this notebook with touch screen option. The keyboard was comfortable. The screen size was not optimized for my application. Battery life was not as expected with the 6 cell option. Only lasted about 4 hours. I will be using this as a backup computer but cannot see this as my primary notebook.
