ATI has just released a new gpu the X700, perhaps to fill the viod of the missing in action X800.
    http://www.ati.com/products/mobilityradeonx700/specs.html

The new ACER 8100, already has been anounced with notebooks from Asus, Alienware, Eurocom, Fujitsu, Gateway, Lenovo, Sony, and Toshiba to be released soon with this GPU !

    Technology Features
    8 parallel pixel pipelines
    Six programmable vertex shader pipelines
    0.11 micron fabrication process
    128-bit dual-channel DDR1/DDR2/GDDR3 memory support
PCI Express™ x16 lane native support

Also to note is that this gpu will also support Hypermemory which "Uses the high-speed bi-directional data transfer capabilities of PCI Express® to store and access graphics data in system memory, leading to less dependence on dedicated graphics memory and a lower overall notebook cost"

Also of note is the inclusion of "LCD Enhancement Engine - a new and improved display architecture that improves scaling of desktop resolution to full panel sizes, improves video quality through compensation for LCD latency, and supports the latest high resolution and wide-screen notebook displays such as WUXGA (1920x1200) and QXGA (2048x1536)"

I believe this is a first for ATI...a notebook (ACER) has actually been announced before the release of a new GPU....normally it takes months before any of there GPUs make it to market...lets hope this trend continues!
