    Typical ASUS...

Good performance per dollar, great battery life, terrible everything else.

The entire U and UL series is nearly the same, always the worst viewing angles out of every manufacturer and the nasty glossy bezel which seems to scratch way easier than most. Also, keyboard still meh... where's the backlit ones?!

The palmrest sticker on this notebook says "Illuminated keyboard" but that is definitely not true, it is just a regular keyboard. I would be very upset if I bought the laptop in a retail store and then found it wasn't backlit.

The U/UL are more or less "you've seen one, you've seen them all". Not a whole lot of excitement going on here.

Well put, though they clearly show with some models they have the ability to make something extraordinary - eg, G73, NX90, N53. By and large, though, they've chosen an odd "niche" to occupy. Bet they're selling like hotcakes and raking in the bucks though, much more so than if they aimed for better quality. sigh...

Which settings are you using in PCMark Vantage and 3DMark06 in your reviews?

Everything default, including resolution. Resolution for 3DMark 06 is 1280x720 (all our reviews are).

That's funny. I have an U31JG with an intel i5 480M processor and it only scores 5228 PCMarks in PCMark Vantage 64-bit on default settings, as opposed to your 6077 PCMarks with an intel core i3 380M processor. I am also running the processor with high performance settings, meaning the processor runs at 3,2 GHz according to CPU-Z.

    Something's not right.
