Today, at CES ASUS shows its ability to blur the lines between tablet and notebook with a collection of new convertible notebooks, laptops, and tablets. Among the highlights are a new convertible ultrabook, and a dual-screen notebook that offers the functionality of a tablet and notebook in one device.

I am bogged at Asus to stick with 4GB soldered RAM. If 4GB DIMM, yea that is ok. but soldered..making it not very upgradable friendly. Especially they came from whitebox manufacturing too.

Compromises have to be made to achieve those low profile dimensions for Ultrabooks. Soldered or integrated components allow for a thinner form factor and unified frame/chassis since you don't need access bays to get to them.

It seems like the taichi concept has been around now even though it has yet to release. I really would want one of those because it gets rid of my largest nit-pick of a touchscreen convertible or laptop... the finger smudges. If the smudges are on the outside, eh, its when they get on the inside that really bugs the heck out of me.
