    ASUS Intros N61, N71 Multimedia Notebooks

    ASUS today introduced its latest entertainment notebooks, the N61 and N71. They are advertised to have excellent audio performance with "unparalleled audio reproduction". The N61/N71 have Altec Lansing speakers and SRS Premium Sound.

    Specifications include Intel Core 2 Duo and Quad processors, up to 8GB of RAM,an Nvidia GeForce GT 240M 1GB graphics card, up to 1TB of drive space, and16-inch (N61) and 17.3-inch (N71) displays with1366x768 and 1600x900 resolutions, respectively.

    Although ASUS is marketing these notebooks based heavily on sound quality, I highly doubt they would be better than a $40 pair of desktop speakers. :rolleyes:

    Buying a notebook with speaker sound quality as a factor . . . can't see myself doing that.

    Yeah, that's kind of questionable. Though the XPS M170/1710 from back in the day with the built-in subwoofer was pretty epic.

    Great laptops! I simply love the beautiful design of the brown N61.
    (I'm one of those people who buys a laptop just because how it looks, not the performance :D).

    Same goes for the Inspiron 9200/9300, which were pretty much the same systems.

    Those things look like they'd be pretty good for what they're aiming for - multimedia.

    And specs wise they are a disaster??
    Spare me.
    But I rather have a good performer and get some headphones rather than a great audio system with low hardware.
