ASUS Announces the MG278Q Gaming Monitor

Fremont, California (19th August, 2015) - ASUS today announced the MG278Q, a 27” WQHD display designed for professional gaming. It features an almost-instantaneous 1-ms response time, an ultra-fast 144Hz refresh rate, and AMD® FreeSync™ technology for smooth, seamless gameplay. The ergonomic design offers ample adjustment, while Ultra-Low-Blue-Light and Flicker-Free technologies protect your eyes during marathon gaming sessions.
Highly detailed visuals with smooth gameplayThe ASUS MG278Q’s 2560 x 1440 display resolution boasts 77% more desktop area than similarly-sized Full HD (1920 x 1080) displays. It delivers highly detailed images with a pixel density of 109 pixels per inch (PPI).

Thanks to its 144Hz refresh rate and 1-ms gray-to-gray response time, the MG278Q eliminates smearing, ghosting, and motion blur. AMD FreeSync technology synchronizes the refresh rate with the graphics card’s frame output, ensuring fluid animation without unsightly tearing. These attributes make the MG278Q ideal for fast-paced racing games and first-person shooters.




Designed for comfortable gaming marathons
ASUS Ultra-Low Blue Light technology cuts the MG278Q’s blue light emission by up to 70% to reduce eye strain during long gaming sessions. Choose between four different filter settings through a new onscreen display (OSD) menu. Flicker-Free technology provides a more comfortable gaming experience by reducing rapid backlight cycling.

The MG278Q’s slim profile and narrow bezel are perfect for creating nearly seamless multi-display setups. The stand’s tilt, swivel, pivot, and height adjustments adapt to your ideal viewing position, while a quick-release latch lets the display detach easily for mounting on VESA-compatible fixtures.



ASUS-exclusive features enhance your gaming experience
GamePlus hotkeys activate useful screen overlays. Select from four crosshairs to suit different games, track performance with the FPS (frames per second) counter, and use the configurable timer to monitor in-game events or how long you’ve been playing.

GameVisual technology provides six preset display modes (Scenery, Racing, Cinema, RTS/RPG, FPS, and sRGB) to suit different game genres and usage scenarios. Switch between modes easily with a hotkey or through the OSD menu.
Extensive connectivity with smart cable management
DisplayPort 1.2, HDMI 2.0, HDMI 1.4, and dual-link DVI inputs give the ASUS MG278Q a rich assortment of connectivity. The DisplayPort 1.2 and HDMI 2.0 ports support native WQHD input up to 144Hz, while integrated cable management keeps your gaming area neat and tidy. Two USB 3.0 ports offer fast-charging support for mobile devices and can also be used as an alternate connection for a secondary display.
FreeSync in multiple flavors
The ASUS MG Series comprises the MG278Q and MG279Q gaming displays. The new MG278Q’s 1-ms response time makes it ideal for first-person shooters, while the MG279Q’s in-plane switching (IPS) panel delivers wide 178° viewing angles with minimal distortion and color shift. Both have AMD FreeSync technology, so you can choose the one that best fits your needs.
