Nice. I don't think I will ever buy a 8.9-inch laptop, it's just too small of a keyboard to me (I have tried several at stores).
A 10-inch version of this would be on my shortlist. -

this is the first ~netbook that has appealed to me. should be good.
anyone own Asus shares? I'm thoroughly impressed with that company, their repair service in Canada is top notch especially. -

This would be really nice with NVIDIA's ION platform and multitouch. Touchscreens aren't that good unless they're capacitive with multitouch. You're missing out on too much, especially with Windows 7, without multitouch. Come on Asus, it's 2009. By the end of the year, we should start to see some really amazing netbooks if they continue to advance like this (NVIDIA ION platform, Asus Seashell design, touchscreen, etc.).

Multitouch yeah but not Capacitive. Ever heard of writing with a stylus in Onenote? It's one of the basic appeals of a tablet.

Ahbeyvuhgehduh Lost in contemplation....
I agree about the keyboard size thing ... used an 8.9" netbook (an Acer Aspire One) and found the keyboard just a little too small (and I have small'ish hands). But a 10" netbook's keyboard (an Eee PC 1000HA) has not been a problem for me at all.
As for the thread topic, I will admit to be being surprised! A nice light (and hopefully inexpensive) tablet pc would be very nice for using OneNote in a classroom/etc. type of environment.
