We've spent the past few weeks reviewing six video editing and publishing software options for aspiring videographers and filmmakers. We've had a good run, and by "good" I mean "disappointing and full of heartache except for one or two entries." This rundown is going to be easy, and that's because the competition actually lays itself out pretty clearly.
Going in, our six entries wereAdobe Premiere Elements 7,Corel VideoStudio X2 Pro,Pinnacle Studio Plus 12,Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9,Magix Movie Edit Pro 15, andMicrosoft's Windows Live Movie Maker Beta.
These are actually really easy for me to rank in terms of which deserve scorn and which deserve praise, but first let's get to the nitty-gritty.

A great review of the popular video editing programs.
Corel is the best rated program on amazon though (150 reviews, 4 star average), along with sony vegas (68 reviews, 4 star average). One of those is where I would put my money. I've used previous versions of pinnacle studio and it was very easy to use but crashed a lot. -
Thank you for the review it was informative.
So, out of the three, which would you recommend to someone who has fairly good experience with iMovie, and has played around with FCE a little(maybe 3 hours of real editing for a contest)? I won't be doing anything to fancy like any high end special effects, or any 3D stuff, but color correction and the such would be a bonus. -

Pfft, real men use Sony Vegas Pro 8.

Yea I used Sony before in the past and its very easy to use and has a lot of features. Adobe, I just became lost in it.

I tested a few last year and I like Sony Vegas and Cyberlink Power Director the most. Vegas is a tad more stable, but Cyberlink's offering has more features and cheaper than Vegas.
At that time, Corel's offerings crashed a lot. And Pinacle's simply less featurefull and a tad more expensive.
