    Looks quite promising.
Certainly a big jump from the previous E1505 lineup.
And it sure looks quite neater and more aesthetically pleasing.

That nVidia Geforce 8600 GT sure looks tempting :D!

While it does look legit at first, I find it hard to believe that this one guy could get a review model a full two weeks before Dell even announces it. Take it with a grain of salt.

this site doesn't seem legitimate.....their d630 review is straight off of this website and they dont give notebookreview and frostknight any credit.

Since NBR links to them (under Notebook Reviews > Dell), I imagine the two sites are in cahoots.
What's "legitimate"? What makes notebookreview.com "legitimate"?
It's just some people who write what they think of notebooks, whatever.

nbr legitimate as in it at least writes their own material rather than take other site's material. on the front page, all the reviews are supposedly "by jason campbell", but almost all of them except for this 1520 one is copied from nbr. it's hard to assess the validity of the 1520 article, mainly b/c you don't really know who wrote it b/c i doubt this guy does.

sometimes dell gives out review models ahead of time so that a review can be out on release date....i think we did that with the xps 1710.

Yeah you're right what's up with that? I assumed they had some kind of agreement but then they should reprint the author's name too....

Its not a very good review, and it could have been written based on what we have posted in the 1520/1720 thread in the Dell forums. The only thing that validates this review is that picture at the top, but even that could have been photochopped.....

    I'm not sure about this.

Its more like a preview than a review. Even then, it may not be so accurate. A poster in the dell forum has stated that the demo model had an 8600M GS, not GT (as was mentioned here).

From the Dell site, looks to be a pretty good value. Came out to $1818 before any warranty options and has pretty much everything I could want.

Hmm, I'm looking forward to reading more about this one.

Everything is good except the price. can't you get a 17" laptop for the same price or just a bit more?

I don't really know, I personally haven't looked into too many 17in computers. All I really ask for in a 15.4in laptop is a WSXGA screen, decent dedicated graphics, and a fast hard drive.

Surprisingly, a lot of companies can't even offer that. HP's dv6500t for example. No 8600, no WSXGA option, and no 7200rpm drive.

that's exactly what i'm asking for too, plus no heat/fan issues. Leaning towards a 1520 or an Asus, but it's giving me a headache so far.
